Rights wins Southeast race
Republican Michael Rights, who campaigned heavily on the issue of illegal immigration, has been declared the winner of the much-contested battle for Southeast town supervisor.
After the final absentee ballots were counted, Rights emerged with a 19-vote victory. Read more about it “here”:http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071121/NEWS04/711210403

amazing… southeast is a 2 to 1 republican town and rights spent what will probably be totaled as close to $200,000 for this seat and he only won with 17 votes with a nail-bitter ending to degnan who spent considerably less.
wow, must feel like a really “sweet” victory when 6 in 1 voters were against you… ah, but such is the beauty with a 3 way race.
19 NOT 17. ARE ALL DEGNAN SUPPORTERS THIS MORONIC????
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW SUPERVISOR MICHAEL RIGHTS. HE IS GOING TODO A GREAT JOB FOR SOUTHEAST. FINALLY, THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WILL BE GONE AND RIGHTS AND BALL WILL RAIN TRIUMPHANT.
Hey Meat-Disc or whatever that
name is supposed to mean, I’d
try doing at least a
spell-check before you started
calling others “morons” – I would usually wish a
winner well in these
circumstances, noting that
a majority of the
electorate voted for this
guy, regardless of how I feel
about him, but I cannot do
so in this case. As mentioned
by the poster above, six out
of every 10 voters who went
to the polls on election day
did not vote for this guy.
Rights is going to be very
bad for the Republican Party
and even worse for the Town.
Rights is Greg Balls guy. Now we will have two elected officials who can’t get things done. Our Town is in serious trouble with Rights, you will see how out of the norm this guy is when you start watching him in office.
Glad I don’t live in Eastern Putnam!
One of the things everyone forgets is that Rights will have little, if anything, to do with Brewster itself. From the Southeast Comprehensive Plan…
“The Village of Brewster, a separate political jurisdiction, is the historic center of the Town of Southeast and retains its identity as one of the centers of the Town.”
The Village of Brewster resembles the Alamo these days.
