Eliot Spitzer, obscenities and all

November
29

Fans and critics of Eliot Spitzer will be running out to newsstands today to grab the new Vanity Fair magazine (or going to http://www.vanityfair.com) to view veteran political journalist David Margolick’s take on the governor’s first year in office.
Like other observers, Margolick comments on the huge promise Spitzer came into office with almost a year ago, which he then then seemed to fritter it all away in a series of political blunders caused mostly by his overweening ego and taste for battle. But he concludes that the freshman governor may still present the best chance to actually change the Capitol’s famously dysfunctional culture.

But unlike newspaper commentaries, Margolick gets to strinkle his tome with obscenties that tansmit more of the flavor of some of the governor’s confrontations.

Spitzer is what he is. Right now, what he is
    looking like is One-Term Eliot.

Speaking of obscenities, Spitzer’s fellow Dem
Andy Spano deserves a few dozen of them.

The County government is a mess, the County itself
is very highly taxed and expensive to live in, but
the County govt. decides to concern itself with
ridiculous issues like garbage bags and calorie counts
on menus. Get your priorities straight, Andy.
That goes for useless County Legislature too.

Ethan, you are letting the voters off way to easily.

It was the voters that just elected more Dems to County Legislature which gives them a supermajority to do whatever they want. It was voters that just voted out Sue Swanson, one of the most honest and independent legislators for another rubber-stamp Dem. It was the voters that elected Andy Spano over far superior candidates like Ted Dunn & Rob Astorino, who both would have brough fiscal sanity and responsible government to that office. I think you live in Yonkers, and it was the voters that elected Jose Alvarado over Phil Gille twice, even though Jose has no idea what he is doing and has become a laughingstock.

You get the government you vote for and the stupid voters of Westchester deserve this comical government of garbage cans and calorie counts.

Bob, Yeah. I should have mentioned the voters. This county govt. is a fiasco. That includes Alvarado.

I paid a lot of attention to Yonkers recently because of Zehy Jereis, now kicked out as Republican Chairman, and his mob ties—and because Dennis Robertson, who was wiped out by Amicone in the mayoral race, had jumped into bed with the very sleazy Sam Zherka of the Guardian.
