What’s the singular of Sox?
it appears to be a collective noun same as deer…
although who knows?
It is acceptable to say “a red sock” to describe a singular player for the Boston American League team. Deconstructing the term “sox,” which is a slang abbreviation of “socks,” as in “Socks Clinton,” the former White House cat, we arrive at “sock” as appropriate.
I wish John McCain were more viable this year. I was his Westchester Volunteer Coordinator in 2000. But I am afraid his time to be an effective president is past. The only way lower Hudson Valley Republicans will benefit in 2008 is if Rudy Giuliani is at the top of the ticket. I voted for hizzoner when I lived in Manhattan—in the 1989 primary and general, and in the 1993 general.
Whether Rudy will be elected president remains to be seen. But the only important factor is whether his presence on the ballot in column one on row “b” helps Westchester and other lower Hudson Republicans. Remember this: Senator Clinton, the presumed Democrat candidate, lost the 9th Judicial District (West., Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess) in 2000 against Congressman Rick Lazio. This, as Gore was trouncing Bush in the same precincts. Lazio’s abberational victory in the 9th JD, as he was losing statewide by 700,000 votes, nonetheless helped other Republicans running locally, such as Andy O’Rourke, who won his race for State Supreme Court that year, and then-Senator Nick Spano.
I doubt that John McCain, good guy that he is (and American patriot) will help Republicans as much as a local GOP legend such as Rudy will, at the top of the ticket.
Your analysis is correct..a ny mayor who is very popular
in the suburbs is clearly more helpful to sending
nick back to the senate than would be any other republican
candidate. But isn’t it interesting how the polls
are suddenly all starting to change on both sides.
these races are fluid..and Hillary could very well
not be the nominee…In the same breath I would also
take bets that Mitt gets knocked out by south carolina
RE: Rudy and the Early States
Rudy would not even be in this GOP race, if many of the States did not move up their primary dates.
Rudy is sending troops to NH to prevent a complete embarrassment of him losing in the early states and the press stories which will follow. Polls indicate this. Many weeks lie between the next set of States to vote in a primary.
That being said;
The ONLY way for Rudy can win this thing is to continue “Splitting” of the votes of the Conservative Candidates such as Mitt, Thompson, Huckabee, McCain and Thompson. (Rudy sneaks in)
If Rudy should win this GOP race…
The GOP Social Conservatives will sit home by the millions and hand this election to Clinton.
This has happened before in history and gave the Republican Party Ronald Reagan the following term as the end of the road came to the “Rockafeller Republicans”
Jim Kelly – NY Conservative Campaigns
This week the ACU (American Conservative Union) Boss, David Keene, advised all early states to go for Mitt in reason to stop Rudy now.
To prevent the splitting of the vote once and for all in this race.
I am not a Mitt fan but so be it. Wait and see, as the Country will still go on with the show no matter who.
here is where you are dead wrong…conservatives will
not stay home if the choice is rudy or hillary…it
is an empty threat..and independents will choose rudy
over hillary because her negatives are sky high..
in fact the only republican that can win is rudy
and most conservatives including evangelicals
know it
Respectfully said, I disagree strongly….Social Conservatives CLEARLY are sending word in the early States to final on one candidate. I know Social Conservatives will “sit at home” at a minimum of six States… Thus easily costing the National GOP for sure the election…In fact two GOP Operatives have stated this concern to me just about a week ago.
On another matter, Two GOP camps I have contact with report changes in their polls in just the last week or so. (Actual both sides Dem & GOP show changes) and so I concur with recent reports of the Clinton decline and the further decline of Rudy support in the early states.
That said, RTL’s, ACU & 2A’s are working their butts off and continue the rally cry and threat to the GOP to somehow and someway remove the field and crown ONE Conservative where all can rally behind for remaining State primaries.
Does this work out for sure? I won’t answer that yet.
Mean while I continue involvement in the 20th CD
