Mount Vernon mayor elect meets with Bloomberg

December
20

Mayor-elect Clinton Young called his time with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg this afternoon very worthwhile.

Young was one of the 13 mayor-elects from the tri-state area, including Mary Foster of Peekskill, who had lunch with Bloomberg and discussed successful policies and strategies for running a city.

“Although it was a short period of time I walked away with so much information,” Young said this afternoon.

Hmmm, wonder if Ernie Davis was outside, trying to get in? “B-b-b-but Officer, I’m the REAL mayor of Mt. Vernon…”

What information? White wine goes with fish?

    Mr. Young;
Did you learn that it is best to be sworn in on neutral ground thereby showing no allegiance to any group? This would be an indication that you wish to serve all and I repeat all of the people.

“The swearing in ceremony will be taking place at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church, 100 West Fourth Street, Mount Vernon.

Does your religious leader have a construction company?
Do you remember the division between church and state?

WAKE UP MOUNT VERNON… LESS CHURCH… MORE STATE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT!

    On January 20, 1961,

I recall JFK being sworn in on a snow-covered Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. It was bitter cold that day. He would never have insulted the nation by holding it in his Catholic cathedral.

If an outside ceremony was good enough for an Irish catholic president, then why cannot you, as an African American A.M.E Zion Mayor, use the city hall plaza for your inauguration? Are you insulting the rest of the community by your action?

Mr. Davis you should be careful to show respect to all who may want to back you. How about the Jewish voters that voted for you, are expected to attend your church? What ever happened to seperation of church and state?

Great to see the foolishness continues. A CHURCH- oh really now? Why do I have a feeling that a preacher is in line to become the CHIEF OF STAFF?

Clinton Young is alienating all non-Christians, and even Christians of non-AME faith, by holding his inaguration at this church. Is a MUNICIPAL, non-denominational facility not good enough for Clinton Young?

I agree, we are just getting more of the same church taking over the state as we have the past 12 years. The Journal News needs to ask Clinton Young why he finds it necessary to be exclusive about his swearing-in ceremony. What kind of message are you sending to ALL taxpayers who are footing the bill for your swearing-in, as it is a CIVIC EVENT NOT A RELIGIOUS EVENT. Why should MY tax dollars pay for the security and any other add-ons necessary for this ceremony if it is in a CHURCH? This is shameful. Clinton Young is perpetuating the divide between north and south sides of town with this call. So do non-Christian, non-Southside residents not deserve EQUAL REPRESENTATION? I know that Clinton Young has no problem accepting my tax dollars as a non-AME, so why should he take my tax money and exclude me from the process? Bring it back to City Hall where it belongs please!

  7. Why not?

Mr. Young please don’t let me regret my vote.

A real vote for change would be

    Lydonn Williams for Mayor.

By the way Mr. Young what is your vision for this city. I have still not heard one.

Did anyone think to remember that City Hall is Closed on New Year’s Day and that Mr. Young can not arrange for anyone to make the building available BECAUSE ERNIE IS STILL CHAINED TO HIS DESK and has yet to let Mr. Young or his transition team in City Hall!!

Let’s talk about the real injustice here. Ernie is defrauding the Mount Vernon community but not allowing for a smooth “change of guard”!!!!!! and let’s not get into the budget cuts he made and that maureen walker agreed too!

that’s the real shame – ernie will be taken away in a stray jacket – watch – the man has lost all sensibility!

A lot of people made excuses for Davis, we can all see the obvious results. Let’s not start making excuses for the new mayor. We can not let this government continue to insult the taxpayers. We are not idiots. I’m sorry that I didn’t Complain more about Davis and the present administration. WE MUST MONITOR THE ACTIONS OF OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT. NEVER… NEVER… ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN!

  10. CRYPTOGUARDIAN

JFK TOOK OVER THE GOVERNMENT EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1961. HE GAVE HIS SPEECH ON JANUARY 20,1961.

IF MR.YOUNG HAD WAITED UNTIL JANUARY 2, 2008, HE COULD HAVE OPENED UP THE CITY HALL. WE START BY EXCUSES… WE SUFFER BY NO CHANGE.. WELCOME THE NEW LEADER… JUST LIKE THE OLD LEADER… SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE… LYNDON WILLIAMS PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!

A new day for the City of Churches? I don’t think so. The chaotic party continues.

Sounds like someone has lost their sensibility already, making illogical statements about government protocol. If people questioned the clowns- whether it is those who abuse their position on the pulpit or the ones in elected office, we might be doing better than we are right now in this city.

Young can be sworn in anywhere at midnight on January 1, and he will be mayor. He can’t wait until January 2 to be sworn in at City Hall- if the scenario is indeed true? I find it hard to believe that AME was the building of last resort because there was no where else to house a swearing-in ceremony. This was probably planned since he won the September primary. Don’t be naive, tax dollars should not be used for church functions.

  12. Blackcrow10

To Crypto- Again, I’m waiting for Lyndon Williams too.

  13. ed

Young AND Williams verbally endorsed Ryan’s unconscionable taxpayer pay- grab up in White Plains. Not a good omen for the future of Mt. Vernon. Good luck with either of them. Looks like you’ll need it.
