Funds for Yorktown drug treatment center

December
21

Phoenix House in Yorktown is expected to get $141,000 in federal funds to expand substance abuse treatment for young people.

The funding is included in the final spending bill Congress sent to President Bush this week for his signature.

The money will go for screenings and assessments in a number of off-site locations and link Phoenix House residents to community services.

Phoenix House opened in 1981 as a residential adolescent treatment facility to meet both the substance abuse treatment and academic needs of young people from Westchester County and other New York communities.

“This funding will allow Phoenix House to improve its treatment and outreach so that more teens can get the help they need,” said Congressman John Hall, D-Dover Plains, who helped secure the money.
