Former state Sen. Nick Spano called Politics on the Hudson today to dispute an item published in the Albany Times Union this weekend stating that he was cited by the police in 2002 for operating a commercial vehicle without a license.
“It’s definitely not me,” Spano said.
Spano was mentioned as part of a “TU investigation”:http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=651181&category=STATE&newsdate=12/30/2007 into lawmakers who have broken the law.
The investigation. which was conducted for the Times Union by the Stabile Center for Investigative Reporting at Columbia University, found that about one-fifth of elected legislators in New York have, by some measure, broken the law in recent years.
Meanwhile, Spano said his lobbying firm, Empire Strategic Planning, has had a successful first year, financially, but that he still continuing to weigh his options about running for his old Senate seat.
“I miss the fight, I miss the action,” Spano said about politics.

And we miss you Senator Spano-we miss a leader in the Senate, please run for your seat-the people of the 35th Senate district need you-we have had enough of day one everything changes-it sure did take a look at your property tax bills people-Greenburgh must be kicking themselves-you voted her in happy, glad I dont live in greenburgh my property taxes went up but not to the extent yours did-do the smart thing voted Nick Spano back into his seat.
The tax hike…that’s paul feiner’s fault and we will deal with him. WE didn’t want Nick Spano then and we don’t want him now.
Betty – it will be interesting to see how you and yours “deal with him.” Paul Feiner is not hard to find. Even Barbara Ricci says that Cousins has done NOTHING because of a lack of effort and a lack of a backbone.
Last fall, Cousins endorsed several Greenburgh candidates, but not Paul Feiner and his candidates. His team squashed her friends. Paul is not afraid to return a favor.
Paul Feiner was very grateful the Senator Stewart-Cousins (like Congresswoman Nita Lowey) decided to stay neutral until after the primary.
Nick Spano doesn’t reallly want to get beat for a third time. Then it is over for Nick and he may pull his brother Mike’s future down with a foolhearty (but fun for us) run for Senate.
I know that someone out there is not trying to use Barbara Ricci’s name as she is a certified wacko.
Neutral???
Cousins did support candidates in Greenburgh, just not Paul Feiner & his team of candidates. I’ll wait until Paul Feiner tells me how grateful he is about Cousins non-support towards his campaign & his people.
If you believe that Nick Spano lost two elections to Cousins, please do not refer to others as wackos.
I was referring to Ricci specifically.
Spano lost the first race – he won after a 3 month debacle that was won in a courtroom by suppressing votes. So yes, Virginia, it will be three in a row.
You obviously did not watch the News12 debate between Feiner and Berger where Feiner repeatedly invoked his good relationship with Senator Stewart-Cousins.
Cousins won their last election. The busloads of Cousins’ “voters” from the Bronx made the first election close.
I didn’t hear Cousins’ name mentioned in Feiner’s victory speech. Westchester needs Nick Spano!
My my my Spano supporters can be nasty. His 35 former taxpayer funded staff members must not have all gotten other jobs after his most recent electoral defeat, so they endlessly post anonymous comments on a blog that NO ONE READS EXCEPT THEM LOL.
Must have been one of the fifty or so other Spanos on the public payrolls.
You have to love a guy that makes an anonymous post about anonymous posting!
Ha. Just noticed that, Ben.
I have numerous troubles with my browser Voyager on your internet site. The gremlins are still in the page :-).
