McGovern calls for Bush-Cheney impeachment

Former presidential candidate George McGovern, who ran unsuccessfully against Nixon in 1972, has called for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
“The case for impeaching Bush and Cheney is far stronger than was the case against Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew after the 1972 election,” McGovern, a former U.S. Senator from South Dakota, wrote in an opinion piece published by the Washington Post.
McGovern accused Bush and Cheney of repeatedly violating the Constitution, transgressing national and international law and lying to the American public.
“Their conduct and their barbaric policies have reduced our beloved country to a historic low in the eyes of people around the world,â€? McGovern wrote. “These are truly ‘high crimes and misdemeanors,’ to use the constitutional standard.”
McGovern added, “The Bush-Cheney team’s assumption of power was the product of questionable elections that probably should have been officially challenged—perhaps even by a congressional investigation.”

Respectfully said,
These are the types of things that some people do and say in old age.
Thank you McGovern! I hope it’s not too late. I’m worried that there won’t be a 2008 election at all. It seems that Bushitler has already passed a law saying that he can take control of the entire government in the event of another emergency. He just might have us “attacked” again just for that one final power grab.
I think McGovern and Jimma Carta are both
under the influence of something or other, and
it’s not good. Maybe it’s pharmacutical in nature,
or maybe it’s just “Ultra Senior Stupidity.”
By now, how can anyone not understand that, if there was EVER a case for impeachment envisioned by those wise Founding Fathers, this is it?
What does it take? Failing to read a memo titled “bin Laden determined to attack inside the United States”? Shaping and inventing false intelligence to lie us into an illegal war? Wiretapping millions of citizens without a warrant? opening an off-shore gulag to imprison hundreds of people, mostly innocent, as it turns out, without ever trying them? Writing hundreds of signing statements to newly-passed laws, saying he will not obey them?
oh, wait, I forgot…...all these things actually happened! It must take something more to be impeached?
Do me a favor? When you figure out what Bush and Cheney actually have to do to even merit being investigated and tried, please let me know? While you are at it, think you could tell me what Isiah Thomas has to do to get fired by the Knicks?
I agree with Jim. McGovern must be suffering from senile dementia.
I think the fact that no attacks his idea on the specifics shows that they can’t find anything wrong with investigating impeachment. Why not? if he is innocent nothing will come out of impeachment. Senator McGovern has been attacked by the Republican attack machine when he was against Vietnam. He went against a Democratic President on the war something Republican’s haven’t been doing with Bush.
I think it’s time for Rod Serling to post under this article.
Only if Rod Serling is a secret defender of Constitutional Law.
Kevin has it right – What is this mad rush to label as science fiction the concept of impeaching a president who repeatedly violates U.S. law, and states he will do so again and again?
How about letting the sunshine of public testimony in? Too much like democratic separation of powers for you?
Bush Derangement Syndrome is alive and well in the Lower Hudson Valley!
