The television campaign in Florida

January
23

Rudy Giuliani and John McCain, battling for every last vote before Florida’s Jan. 29th primary, both launched new television ads in the Sunshine State today.

Giuliani’s ad touches on the ever-present hurricane threat in Florida and his plan for a national catastrophe fund.

“Some say we don’t need a national catastrophe fund,” says the announcer. “That FEMA can handle disasters. Others say they haven’t looked at it yet and want to sit down with insurance companies first. Only one Republican candidate has proven experience dealing with disaster. Only one will fight for a national catastrophe fund. And only one has a plan to lower rates and fix the insurance mess. Tested in crisis. Ready to lead. Rudy Giuliani. The only one for Florida.â€?

McCain’s ad deals with different sorts of threats – radical Islamic extremism and economic insecurity.

“There’s no one more qualified to meet our national security threats,” McCain says in the ad. “I’ve been dealing with these issues my entire adult life.”
