Mondello: GOP Unified Behind McCain

January
30

New York GOP Chairman Joseph Mondello is now officially throwing the party’s support behind John McCain.

In a statement, Mondello thanked Rudy Giuliani for his campaign, but said the party will now be working “tirelessly” for McCain “to ensure that he is the next President of the United States.”

Here’s some of his statement:
“I am proud to announce that New York Republicans are endorsing Senator John McCain.
Senator John McCain is a true leader, an extraordinary patriot, and a committed Republican. New York’s Republican Party and John McCain have been good friends over the years. Our state committee was very proud that the Senator served as a keynote speaker at our annual State Dinner last year.

Senator McCain has proven himself to be a leader with the experience necessary to lead our nation during troubled times. His unwavering commitment to winning the war on terror, stimulating the economy, limiting government and ensuring that our families are safe from dangers at home and abroad reflect the needs of New Yorkers and people across the country.”

Surprise, Surprise NY State GOP, Media & Rudy Kool aid Drinkers…...

The New York State Republican Leadership deserves all that came to them last night. The NY GOP clearly has been forewarned about this Rudy demise. Rudy in the eyes of true GOP Americans cannot ever win over this National Party.

As I told New York Political Reporters, Couple of TV Commentators and MANY Inside the New York State GOP….....As well as many on this blog and others across this State since last summer…..

Rudy will NOT be the Candidate of the Republican National Party, this whole plan was flawed…. National Base Vote will never go to a Liberal on many issues Rudy had on record. Further, I am on the record since summer that their was serious doubt that Rudy can even win his own State of New York.

I have never met a more “Incompetent Group of Political Strategists” as those in the NY State GOP who really thought Rudy was going to be our next GOP nominee.

1 – NY Transplant voters are NOT Republican, they are Democrats….

2 – Rudy has also received the endorsements in the past years of the Abortion Industry Organizations such as (Planned Parenthood, & NARAL) .....Many Pro-Gay Rights groups and organizations…...
And from many of the Anti-Second Amendment groups.

This is not New York politics, this is National Politics, two different animals.

NY State GOP should have kept the field “Open for all leaders to discuss, interview each candidate, etc…(Morale purposes & Unity as a Party)
    But, no….

A group of so called leaders, comes out for “Rudy for President like “Tigers at Dinner in their NY State GOP Press Releases…GOP even changing the Primary rules to benefit Rudy of winner take all in delegates.

Just as the NY GOP tried to shove Liberal Weld (Gov) & Pirro & Howard Mills (US Senate) down the throats of the State County Chairs, the GOP has failed again. As many of the GOP Chairs are Conservative and bank on these issues of importance to maintain their Party grass roots.

The NY State GOP once again, will have egg on their face this morning. There will be nothing new about the NY State GOP other the MORE embarrassment.

(BTW…Sean Hannity, Dick Morris, Roger Stone are still waiting for Jean Pirro & Bill Weld to run for Statewide office from last year…....
Further, Sean Hannity & George Will is still crowning Rudy as our next President of these United States)

Conservative Candidates win the National GOP Primary, this is politics 101…...

Here’s what Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough had to say about McCain’s victory yesterday…
BUCHANAN: Here’s a guy, basically, what does he say? The jobs are never coming back, the illegals are never going home, but we’re gonna have a lot more wars.

SCARBOROUGH: We’re gonna start a lot of wars! He has promised, for the record Keith, John McCain’s platform — and it certainly looks inviting for the fall — he has promised less jobs and more wars. Now that’s something we can all rally behind.

“Less jobs, more wars.” Yeah that sounds like a real winner, all right…

Take that up the Consultant, Walt. He was a
Rudy, Rudy, Rudy guy who has morphed into a
McCain guy and who may end up a Ray Guy…punting.

I’ve been for Romney, who needs to stage
a big comeback now. Can he? Maybe. But maybe not.

On the other hand, I think events still to
unfold will determine November. But as of now,
I don’t think Billary Clinton or Obama is electable.

    Just my opinion.

  4. the consultant

ethan…I was in fact originally for Rudy…I thought at
the time and the polls indicated that he was the strongest
candidate we could field against hillary or obama…
In fact that turned out not to be the case…I am comfortable with John McCain…I would be comfortable
with Mitt…However I don’t believe that Romney can
beat Hillary or Obama…I would agree that Obama is
probably not electable…and for that reason and lots
of others he will probably not be nominated..that leaves
us with Hillary..and make no mistake about it ..she
is quite electable….and I am guessing you wouldn’t want
to take the risk she is not just to have your choice
Mitt as the candidate. If we want to make sure Hillary
is not the next President ( and Bill is not the first spouse)which many people in the nation are concerned about
we need to nominate a candidate that has cross over appeal
He will not be the perfect conservative..He may not
even be the perfect Republican..but lets not simply hand
over the white house if we can avoid it…

McCain did himself no favors in the CNN debate tonight.

It was like, “I’m John McCain and I’m always right
about everything.” He came across poorly, and tried
to make his military background the answer to a
    question about the economy.

He also was dead wrong and lying about Romney and
“timetables.” Dead wrong and clearly lying.

This is the McCain many don’t like. That said,
a choice between Billary or McCain would be easy
to make for many who don’t like McCain very much.

They like the Clintons even less…much less.

  6. the consultant

correct..and Mc Cain is the crossover candidate…unfortunately Romney is not …he should
have been but candidates who change positions as often
as he has on major issue just to accomodate his base
are often viewed skeptically by those outside the base
which is what happened to Mitt…great candidate on
paper..many of my wall street buds are supporting
him with lots of cash..but as I keep telling them
    He cannot win the general

Again I say, This is not Westchester politics, this is National Politics.

Base with winning votes if there is split on bias election year.

Meaning if race is close like in Gore vs Bush or Kerry Vs Bush, the winner is strickly determined by Base output.

In above cases, 2A & Pro-Lifers determined the victory for Bush (Both Times!) 12 million of these voters came out who did not come out years before. (Bush Sr.)

In fact, as I have said many times, GW Bush, Al Gore, John Kerry and Billary Clinton ALL agree on one fact…...The last two elections were won in the 2A & Pro-Life States.

If you notice, Hillary is giving positive answers on 2A questions (Something never done before for a Dem)

Remember Kerry Duck hunting? (laugh) Three days before election (Kerry had his friend carry out the dead ducks)

It is not a Ronald Reagan year in which all come home to flock together.

  8. 7Curses

what difference does it make: another republican in the white house will doom this country. more greed, maliciousness and vindictive destruction. no thanks !

  9. Saul W.

Once again Yellowdog (aka 7Curses) weighs in with his rabid partisan blathering. Save it for somebody who cares, like your therapist.

  10. the consultant

Not this year Jim…base voters will vote to keep the
other party from winning..ie Conservatives will hold their
nose and vote for McCain, and LIberals supporting Obama
will hold their nose and vote for Hillary…Its the middle
that will determine the outcome..Indpendent voters will
    chose the next president

  11. Ian

Jim, are you now inferring that Sean Hannity is a liberal? How far to the right are you? As for Rudy, everyone but the Consultant knew he couldn’t win. He had too much personal baggage and too many prominent enemies including the national media.

Romney can win a general election and with his discipline, proven track record, and lack of shame to be perfectfully honest would be a better general election candidate than McCain who is not in the best of health, is not a good fundraiser, and who has pissed off a lot of people in the Republican Party and will gain less glowing press coverage in a general election. He is the press’ favorite Republican not their favorite candidate.

But you go with what you have and he is going to be the nominee. You can vote for him or Hillary or Obama.

  12. WaltTrombone

McCain has an uphill fight with some branches of the Right. Witness this exchange between Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin…

GLENN: Michelle Malkin, I’ve got 30 seconds. If it’s John McCain, Hillary Clinton, do you pull the lever for John McCain?

MALKIN: Not at this moment I don’t. I’m running a poll right now on my site and you can see that there are a majority of my own readers who are going to sit home. And I think it’s a big warning to the conservative movement out there. We still have time to fix this.

Yes, you read that right, Malkin would rather vote for Hillary than McCain.

  13. TimG

Lets review the choices: Vote for the Liberal Commie or the Rino traitor ….... Both mean doom for America!
