Q-Poll: Clinton still strong in New York

February
4

With less than 24 hours before polls open in New York, a new Quinnipiac University poll out today shows that — despite some gains by Barack Obama — Hillary Clinton still has a strong home turf advantage.

The poll showed Clinton ahead of Obama 53 percent to 39 percent. In an earlier Quinnipiac poll, released on Jan. 22, Clinton led Obama 51 percent to 25 percent. John Edwards picked up 11 percent in that poll.

On the Republican side, John McCain appears poised to capture New York. The poll had McCain building a lead over Mitt Romney, 54 percent to 22 percent. Mike Huckabee was third at 9 percent and Ron Paul had 5 percent.

In the Jan. 22 poll that included Rudy Giuliani, McCain led Romney 30 percent to 9 percent.
