Teamsters to endorse Obama
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is expected to announce later today it is endorsing Barack Obama for president.
The Service Employees International Union and the United Food and Commercial Workers endorsed Obama last week.
All three are among the seven unions in the Change to Win federation that broke away from the AFL-CIO several years ago.
UNITEHERE, another member of the federation, endorsed Obama in early January after its preferred candidate, John Edwards, failed to win the Iowa caucuses. UNITEHERE represents hotel, restaurant, laundry and textile workers.
An Obama endorsement by the Change to Win federation is under discussion and could be announced as early as Thursday.
Only one member of the federation—the United Farm Workers—has endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Clinton, however, does have support from several industrial unions within the AFL-CIO.
But in yesterday’s Wisconsin primary exit polls showed that Obama won the support of a majority of union households.
That’s not good news for Clinton going into the critical March 4 Ohio primary.

An endorsement from the Teamsters and Jimmy Hoffa, Jr.
Can you dig it?
Where’s the press conference scheduled, at the Meadowlands?
So, the Kennedys and the Hoffas join and agree in the end. Who knew?
The word is that Hoffa is alive and, under
an assumed name and after plastic surgery,
is now one of the Westchester County legislators.
Or maybe he’s really on Spitzer’s staff.
