I’m sure that you could find the correct quote rather than make one up. There are actually two quotes going around. One is very close to – for the first time in my adult life I’m really proud of my country. The second is omits the word ‘really’. You should examine your use of quotation marks, maybe you’ll learn about them in the 7th grade.

My question is this: would the Stepford Wife of the presumptive repub nominee be comfortable with a careful examination of her actions?

just for the record the average time for the FCC to make
a decision is 400 days….the time that past in the
situation involving Paxson and McCain was 800 days
I doubt that urging an agency of the government
to make a decision without urging a particular
outcome is a violation of anything..so those of
you who see an ethics violation behind every
letter a senator writes ought to look at Hillary’s
letters first..

Not so, Walt. Writing a letter urging the
FCC to move one way or another after doing nothing
for about two years is not a “baddie.”

He didn’t encourage them to rule one way or
another, just to make a decision, period.

Also, if the NY Slimes had any evidence of an affair
it would have been published today. They wrote
a long story as it is. Full of nothing substantial.

Washington Post and AP are also running with the McCain story, which seems to have gotten its start from a Matt Drudge item. Here’s a quote from the AP…

“In late 1999, McCain twice wrote letters to the Federal Communications Commission on behalf of Florida-based Paxson Communications Ã¢â‚¬â€ which had paid Iseman as its lobbyist Ã¢â‚¬â€ urging quick consideration of a proposal to buy a television station license in Pittsburgh. At the time, Paxson’s chief executive, Lowell W. “Bud” Paxson, also was a major contributor to McCain’s 2000 presidential campaign. McCain did not urge the FCC commissioners to approve the proposal, but he asked for speedy consideration of the deal, which was pending from two years earlier. In an unusual response, then-FCC Chairman William Kennard complained that McCain’s request “comes at a sensitive time in the deliberative process” and “could have procedural and substantive impacts on the commission’s deliberations and, thus, on the due process rights of the parties.”

McCain wrote the letters after he received more than $20,000 in contributions from Paxson executives and lobbyists. Paxson also lent McCain his company’s jet at least four times during 1999 for campaign travel.”

You are right, Bubba is not such a good person. The good thing is that Billary won’t get the nomination and Bill won’t get a chance to occupy the White House again. We’ll see if these anonymous sources pan out. I do suppose that to the GOP, cheating on your wife who stood by and waited for you while you were a POW with a hot young blonde heiress to millions is a positive.

That maverick campaign finance reporter sure seems to have a history of being cozy with lobbyists and corporate types. It is nice to see that the media love affair with Mack Daddy McCain may be coming to an end.

Condi Rice is a very talented woman but brings nada to
the ticket..African Americans traditionally do not vote
for Republicans…too bad we could use a little help
what;s more she is too closely connected to the
Bush era and MCCain needs to keep his distance to attract
Independents in swing states…Finally she cannot delvier
any particular state not having ever run for office. SO
McCain needs a person from a purple state or who can deliver
a purple state like Ohio, Pa, Michigan etc…that is why
Romeny makes such good sense.

Based on what’s out there so far, the Times’ story
is a disgrace. The “paper of record” has slipped
badly in recent years. Jayson Blair, anyone?

The Times has had a clear and biased agenda, and this
time they may have gone way over the line with a bunch
of garbage. If this story falls apart, and it looks
like it will, then heads will roll at the Times.

Front page, above the fold, and a very long story
that is convoluted and not sourced with anyone on
the record. Sounds like the National Enquirer.

Consultant—- you are 1000% correct.

By worrying more about “making history” – the first black or the first woman, the Democrats paid NO attention to anyone else. The white guys never got up to the plate. So we never learned whether any of them had the right stuff to take on the Republicans.

So, here’s a little history Democrats’ll make: how ‘bout 3 Republican terms in a row; 6 of the last 8; 8 of the last 11 terms. With the inside track to win in 2012.

All those starry-eyed Democrats who wanted Hillary, and now are in love with Obama, will get to think about things over 4 – maybe 8 – more years of Iraq, a conservative Supreme Court, etc.

Good job. You made “making history” more important than shaping history.

following up on ethan’s remarks..Mr. Zogby is in my
judgment not the most reliable pollster out there
But that aside, the Obama Phenomenon is transient in
my opinion..it is excitement generated by his ability
to orate…he has been rated the most liberal us senator
in the senate…we have never elected someone that far
to the left …ever…JFK wasn’t neither was carter or clinton…the polls which show Obama beating McCain are
a reflection of the moment…they have nothing to do
with the mood of the electorate in the fall…the democrats
believe that Obama is a better candidate than clinton
they are wrong..but that is good for republicans because
democrats are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
deny the first african amercian the nomination by
resorting to the power of the super delegates and the
democrats risk losing half their voters….so they
are stuck..Mc Cain wins this election..its predictable
and you can take it to the bank..and without pating
myself on the back since the election of JFK..I have
never been wrong on a presidential ….

It’s only February, so the most meaningful
number here is Obama’s lead over Hillary.

Obama has not really been challenged on
the Republican side, by McCain.

But of interest is that poll which shows
McCain just 7 points behind Hillary in NY,
her own…errr…her carpetbagged blue state.

McCain can win it all by 4 points by the
time November rolls around.
