Oros commercial

February
27

The global war on terror, Roger Clemens and HGH . . . it’s all part of a radio spot by Westchester County Legislator George Oros in his run for Congress. Oros and Kieran Lalor, another Republican, want to unseat Rep. John Hall, D-Dover Plains.

Whoever wrote the radio spot…doesn’t know how to distill
the contents into a small enough bundle of words to
make an impact on the listener…ie its too convoluted
doesn;t mean the message is wrong..just the way it
    is presented..try a rewrite

Yup….think of that famous Clara Peller commercial
for Wendy’s…Where’s the beef? Funny, and to the point.

Nobody cares about Roger Clemens. If this is the sort of nonsense Oros plans to base his candidacy on he ought to save himself a lot of time and effort and give up now.

Possible push polling in the 19thCD, according to one blogger…

” It asked if you knew that John Hall (D-NY) was being supported by Barack Obama, who is in favor of raising taxes, and if it would make you more likely to support his “Republican opponent.”

Of course, the push poll didn’t say it was being run by the NRCC, but Hall doesn’t have any republican opp. at this time, and they referred to the “Republican opponent” without naming names.”

Funny how Oros was getting on trial lawyers, when he’s a lawyer, too. I guess it’s true, sharks DO eat their young.

In a related story on Politico.com…

“House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) challenged Republicans on Tuesday to get off their “dead assesâ€? and start raising money for the National Republican Congressional Committee.

And the Republican leader wasn’t the only lawmaker berating his GOP colleagues to raise more money for the committee’s March 12 fundraising dinner: According to sources in the room, NRCC Chairman Tom Cole (R-Okla.) and Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) also used a closed-door session at the Capitol Hill Club on Tuesday to challenge Republicans to raise more campaign cash.

The normally upbeat Cole told Republicans that if they don’t start raising more money for the committee, they should get used to life in the minority.
    ...

The party has struggled to emerge from its devastating losses in 2006 as senior members head for the exits and traditional donors buck the GOP in favor of the new Democratic majority. Some of those defections have sapped Republicans of their most powerful fundraisers, and remaining members have failed to fill that void as GOP lawmakers still grapple with life in the minority.

The NRCC was starting to turn things around at the end of 2007, closing the year with more cash than debt for the first time since the crippling 2006 election. But 2008 began with a fresh crop of retirements and revelations that a former NRCC bookkeeper allegedly forged an internal audit sent to the committee’s principal lender.

The NRCC outraised the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee by a very narrow margin in January, outpacing its Democratic counterpart for the first time since the Republicans lost power. But the DCCC maintains a sizable fundraising advantage, closing the month with nearly $35.5 million, compared with the NRCC’s $6.4 million.”

You guys still think Oros or Lalor is gonna be able to pull this off?

I’ll have a double scoop sundae, with Rocky Road and Schadenfreude, please.

I thought the ad was good. I’m no politically maven, but I liked it. Oros is right, congress has a bunch of screwed up priorities and we’re getting hurt because of it. It does read a little fast though, I couldn’t hear everything the first listen, which I guess isn’t good.

I think it was very disingenuous for Oros to take an oath and be sworn into office in January if he does not want the position. Right away in Feb. he leaves his district under represented while he campaigns in Putnam, Orange, Dutchess and Rockland. That was very sneaky of him.

    What a lame commercial!

After hearing it, all I can remember is that the Democrats like terrorists and hate Roger Clemens. Or, was it that Democrats hate terrorists and like Roger Clemens.

Not a good effort by George Oros. Where is his campaign? What are they doing? This ad is terrible, does he have any professionals working with him? If so, they should all be fired. This campaign is not going to be won with the stale ideas of the past, only with fresh thinkers can Oros or any Republican for that matter, be victorious. Oros was ill-advised in putting this ad together. As someone who thinks George Oros is the best candidate currently announced, I am very disappointed. He needs to shake things up and get serious people around him if he expects to go anywhere.
