Spano says its all about Westchester

February
27

A decision from former Sen. Nicholas Spano about whether he will run is probably still a few weeks away. And the GOPs loss yesterday in the 48th Senate District — which trimmed the Republican majority to just two seats — doesn’t appear to be affecting his thought process.

“I said a few days ago that my decision is not about a Senate seat upstate,” Spano, a Yonkers Republican, said in an e-mail. “It is all about us in Westchester.

Nick: Get over yourself already. Nobody wants you back in office.

  2. the consultant

That is really not an accurate statement Jake…at least
50% of the voters do want him back….

  3. Jacob

    No, they don’t.

  4. Joe DPW

Listen Jacob or should I say Democrat hes a popular guy and thats what polotics is a popularity contest. So who are you to say anything about a Political Star Like Nick Spano

  5. Westchester Republican 2008

No hugely popular gubernatorial candidate to drag Andrea passed the finish line + John McCain instead of John Faso = Mr. Spano returns to ALbany! It’s grade school math.

    Hello ….

This is a Presidential year … and a historic Democratic year at that. Spano certainly knows how to count.

Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins wins again – SpaNO or not.

Let me say this as well, Nick Spano is well liked – hey 48% last time would be great in anyone’s book.

It’s just not what you need to win 50% + 1 vote.

  7. the consultant

the problem for nick this time around is the argument
that he would be the third most powerful man in the
republican controlled senate is not as compelling
now that there is a two vote margin and one switiching
republican renders the whole argument moot

CONSULTANT – YOU KNOW THAT THE LOSS THE REPS HAD UPSTATE WAS BECAUSE THEY REALLY PICKED THE WRONG CANDIDATE. THE DEMS WILL LOSE THAT SEAT IN NOVEMBER. TAKE THAT TO THE BANK. NO ONE WANTS ONE PARTY RULE HERE IN THIS STATE AND THE REPS WILL HIGHLIGHT THIS. AND THE LAST POINT IS THAT NICK REALLY NEEDS TO RUN NOW MORE THAN EVER BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY REP THAT CAN BEAT HER. ONE MORE PREDICTION: HILLARY WILL WIN THE NEXT THREE CONTEST. THIS WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING. HILLARY WILL GO ON TO WIN THE PRIMARY HOOK OR CROOK. THE MINORITY VOTE WILL FEEL LIKE THEY GOT SCREWED OVER AND WILL NOT SHOW UP AT THE POLLS FOR HER. ALSO – WITH SPITZER LOW POLL NUMBERS ADD ALL THIS TOGETHER AND NICK TAKES HIS SEAT BACK. THIS WAY WE CAN START ONCE AGAIN TO HAVE A SENATOR THAT REPRESENTS THE DISTRICT AND ACTUALLY WORKS HARD FOR US. ANDREA HAS PROVED TO BE LAZY AND JUST LIKE THE COMMERCIALS SAID SHE HAS DONE “NOTHING”. LETS WORK TO REVERSE THIS BAD DECISIONBY PEOPLE IN GREENBURGH WHO I’M SURE ARE KICKING THEMSELVES AFTER ANDREA DELIVERED THEM A 15% PROPERTY TAX HIKE. ALL THE BEST MY FRIENDS! KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT!

You know, Lou, if Billary does turn this around, if,
I think you are right that many of Obama’s backers
would believe the fix was in and jump ship.

They were counting on “Moses” to lead them to the
Promised Land. Billary doesn’t make for a good Moses.

thank you ethan:) you watch this is going to get close within the next week. the minotity vote will not show up and i don’t blame them. one thing about bill clinton ( i dislike him by the way) is that he is one smart politician. they should not be counting him out just yet.

  11. the speculator

    Lou/Ethan,

Maybe you need a demographics lesson. The minority vote is not what pushed Senator Steart-Cousins over the top. No matter what happens in the Democratic Presidential primary – Senator Stewart-Cosuns support does not change – number one vote getter as a Clinton delegate. Oh yeah, Senator Stewart-Cousins was going to lose last election because it was a fluke it was close in 2004 – because it was a Presidential year.

Face the facts, its over for the Republican controlled Senate. Democrats have already proven one party rule is not the blind walk in the dark predicted. Cuomo, DiNapoli and the Democratic Assembly are all very independent.

Let’s go to Consultant facts; Incumbents rarely lose. Especially 1st term incumbents – Aubertine was no mistake. Wasn’t Nick Spano the only incumbent that lost – no matter how spirited the race, no matter which party held the seat.

It is just going to be a Democratic year in New York.

By the way I think that the Democratic primary is going to keep going for the next month – at least.

  12. LOU

SPEC – THE MINORITY VOTE DIDN’T PUT HER OVER THE TOP? REALLY? IN THE 1ST WARD SPANO LOST AVERAGE OF ABOUT 5,000 TO 100 VOTES. HE STILL WON YONKERS. LOOK AT SOME OF THE MONORITY EDS IN GREENBURGH. NICK LOST THOSE SOMETIMES 400-2. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. THE MINORITY VOTE HELPED HER BECAUSE THEY VOTE IN BLOCKS AND STAND TOGETHER. I’M NOT SAYING THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT. IT’S JUST A FACT.
