Lowey “full of energy” and predicting victories for Clinton

The conventional wisdom may say that Hillary Clinton needs to win both the Ohio and Texas primaries on Tuesday, but one of her biggest local supporters isn’t ready to call it an all-or-nothing battle for New York’s junior senator.

Rep. Nita Lowey, a Harrison Democrat, said she remains strongly committed to Clinton’s candidacy and will wait until after all the delegates are counted from Tuesday’s contests before making any sort of comment about whether Clinton needs abandon her candidacy.

“I think she’s going to win Texas and Ohio and therefore I am not going to cast any judgment at this time,” Lowey said today.

Lowey, meanwhile, was basking in the rankings announced by Congress.org. They ranked Lowey as the 25th most powerful House member and the second most powerful of New York’s 29 members. Rep. Charlie Rangel was the top New York House member.

“I am flattered to get this high ranking and I look forward to continuing to fight for the people of the 18th Congressional District,” said Lowey after a press conference she held in her office to criticize the Social Security Administration for not reducing its backlog of cases.

And if you thought that Nita Lowey’s recent “minor coronary incident” might have caused her to re-think her political future, think again. Lowey said today she never once considered not seeking re-election to her House seat this fall.

“I’m full of energy,” Lowey said. “I love the job I’m doing. This was a freak incident.”
