Westchester’s pay panel gets its final members and gets to work
The Westchester Board of Legislators this afternoon announced the final appointments to its Compensation Advisory Board, which will review the issue of lawmakers’ pay. The board has until April 30th to recommend whether legislators deserve higher salaries.
The new members are:
•Former New Castle Town Supervisor Marion Sinek of Chappaqua, a past president of the state League of Women Voters. She was appointed by legislture Chairman Bill Ryan.
•Gerald McGrath Sr. of Katonah, a senior client partner with Korn/Ferry International. He was appointed by Majority Leader Marty Rogowsky.
•Donna Pokorny of Goldens Bridge, a senior human resource executive with Verizon in White Plains. She was was appointed by Minority Leader George Oros.
They join the four members previously appointed by the Legislature, including Advisory Board Chairman William Mooney, who is president of the Westchester County Association. The new appointments are likely to approved by the Board of Legislatures at its meeting next week.
Mooney, however, isn’t waiting for the new appointments. He’s scheduled the panel’s first meeting for tomorrow at 8 a.m. at the offices of the Westchester County Association in White Plains.
“The purpose of tomorrow’s meeting is to set an organizational structure and mission statement going forward,” Mooney said in a press release. The meeting is open to the public.

My inclination is to believe that all these appointees are millionaires many times over. To them, a legislator making $250,000 per year might be deemed underpaid. Can we please find some “working” people once in a while on some of these boards and committees who decide our death by taxation?
