Not that I’m a big fan of Schumer’s own posturing and promoting, but at least his press conferences don’t cost us taxpayers $41.8 million. Couldn’t they save $$ and send a postcard? (I can see why the IRS might want to warn people that the mail they are about to get will be good/a check, as opposed to bad/audit notice, but I find it hard to believe they can’t do it cheaper.)

Let me get this straight—Chuck Schumer is assailing another party for being “self-congratulatory”? Forgetting that it’s an inantimate object such as the IRS, is this the same vain Chuck Schumer who assails us New York citizens with a regular Sunday press conference in which he congratulates himself on matters large and small?

Right. Don’t give the 41 mil back to the people whose money it is – hire more government employees to harass the people. Same logic as Spitzer whose ‘budget cutbacks’ call for hiring 2000 more state employees. These jokers are great candidates for a hit sit-com.
