Bush calls Paterson
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — President Bush is offering his best wishes to Democrat David Paterson as he prepares to become New York’s first black governor. The Republican president called around 9 a.m. to tell Paterson that his friends in New York told him it’s a big job and Paterson can handle it. White House press secretary Dana Perino says Bush wanted “to wish him the best in his new job†and he looks forward to meeting with Paterson soon.
