Some quotes from the inauguration

Posted by: Liz Anderson - Posted in Albany, David Paterson, governor on Mar 17, 2008

David Paterson ran briefly through his bio at the end of his inaugural speech today, before proclaiming triumphantly that he wanted to “reintroduce” himself: “I am David Paterson and I am the governor of New York!” he declared, to cheers.

Here are some other highlights, via the AP:“This transition today is an historic message to the world: That we live by the same values that we profess, and we are a government of laws, not individuals,” Paterson said.

“We move forward. Today is Monday. There is work to be done,” Paterson said. “There was an oath to be taken. There’s trust that needs to be restored. There are issues that need to be addressed.”

And this: “What we are going to do from now on is what we always should have done all along,” he said. “We’re going to work together.”
