Paterson disclosure/revelation roundup

March
20

How’s that candor working out for Gov. David Paterson? Here’s your roundup of stories from the tabs and elsewhere this morning:
“Gov. Paterson admitted Wednesday he may have improperly billed his campaign for at least one hotel tryst with a girlfriend. The hotel tryst was apparently listed as “constituent services,’” The Daily News reports.

The city Department of Education confirmed yesterday that Gov. Paterson intervened on behalf of Olympic gold-medalist Diane Dixon to get her a job after she’d been turned down – around the same time she told The Post she had tape recordings proving her close relationship with him,” says the New York Post.

And as for Lila Kirton, the White Plains woman The Journal News reported had a past liaison with Paterson, was staying out of sight. A neighbor told Glenn Blain she and her family were “the nicest people I know.”

Kirton “is a successful prosecutor and advocate for the disenfranchised,” friends told Newsday yesterday. “Knowledgeable sources said she is “devastated” and “upset” by the unwanted publicity.”

two of these issues are becomming a problem as we
learn more about them….using campaign funds for
sexual liasons ie personal business…and obtaining
a job for a sexual partner both pose the kinds of
issues that can lead to a call for resignation

Maybe the lesson for some commentators here is not to be so fast to dismiss the indescretions of elected officials as purely private matters. Sometimes they are, but often they have impact on official responsibilities and have legal implications. And they are also frequently indicators of the ethics and trustworthiness of the politician, even if rules and laws were not broken.

Ah, ha. Is Sara referring to the Consultant, who just a day or two ago wanted to give Paterson a free ride?

Patterson is just as sleazy as Spitzer. Brighter maybe, because he allegedly got freebies, but sleazy nonetheless. Should he resign, Bruno becomes top dog. Now, if he gets indicted by the Feds for his sleazy antics and resigns, who’s next in line?

Problem is, nothing is free. Actually, Spitzer, by anonymously hiring ladies of the evening, as it were, is somewhat less culpable of betraying the public trust than someone who allegedly uses government jobs and promotions as payment, some possibly financed with campaign funds.

    Where is Andrea Cousins?
It appears that she got a mulligan during her first year because her husband was sick.

when the facts change so do my opinion..thats called
not jumping to conclusions,,,innocent until proven
guilty, giving the man a break, etc….to do anything
less would be to practice yellow journalism like
one newspaper I know of which makes outlandish accusations
of elected officials all the time

Good point. When I think of that despicable rag, I try to temper my criticisms.
