Checking up on the Board of Elections move

March
21

Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano’s plan to move the Board of Elections to a building off Saw Mill River Road in Greenburgh may rest with state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

The Spano administration has asked Cuomo to review whether – as some lawmakers argue – a public referendum is needed before the Board of Elections can be moved from its current location near the county’s main government complex White Plains.

Meanwhile, Board of Legislators Chairman Bill Ryan, a White Plains Democrat, said this week he would prefer to see the Board of Elections remain in White Plains.

The Spano administration maintains, however, that no suitable building exits in White Plains and the Greenburgh site is the best deal for taxyapers.

The question to ask is, Who owns the land or the building?
