Term limits, then they become wealthy de-facto lobbyists for special interests. You can’t win with this bunch. One of them made 50 grand for making a phone call, if you remember. And, he’s still in operation, spouting now and again about “good government”, like a prehistoric geyser. Just one that quickly came to mind, and a Republican, sad to say.

There is no question that term limits is the right way go to go. Institutional and individual corruption and laziness sets in when they are there too long.

The Founding Fathers never intended “public service” to be a full, life-long career. Besides, many of these Albany types (and others) only serve themselves, not the public.

Establishing term limits should be a top agenda.

The New York state legislature is starting to exhibit the qualitites of its dysfunction as its reputation has
been labeled in the past..i am afraid the only cure
is TERM LIMITS…that will cure these long term
guys of institutional abuse

And, after Bruno is relieved, Silver steps in. That would be the only way, it seems, to get Silver to start answering some questions. Ironic here, too, that in order to get rid of any of these people, we have to have them appointed governor first.

If the “ethics” committee did its job, there would be no need for this kind of stuff. The irony is that an unethical governor was trying to do an ad-hominem ethics job because he knew the ethics people wouldn’t. Both sides are happy that the ethics people do nothing, but it affords them the incentive to do it themselves surreptitiously.

if patterson has to resign my understanding is that
bruno would be “acting” governor..and also majority
leader and would be able to execute both positions
