Who paid for Lila Kirton’s trip to South Carolina?

March
25

Lila Kirton, the White Plains resident who reportedly engaged in an extramarital affair with Gov. David Paterson, apparently traveled to South Carolina with him last fall to help with Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign — and taxpayers paid for it.

The Times Union of Albany today reported that Paterson took Kirton, an aide to former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, with him to South Carolina in October and billed the state for their expenses. The newspaper’s story is based on records from the state Comptroller’s Office.

Errol A. Cockfield Jr., Paterson’s spokesman, could not explain why both Paterson and  Kirton were both at an inn identified on bills as InterContinental Hotel SA in South Carolina, last October.

Unbelievable. We may as well be living in Venezuela.

The Times-Union woke up? That is news all by itself. They might finally be embarrassed for aiding and abetting Spitzer’s smear of Bruno. The same goes for Soares, the Democratic Albany D.A. who wanted to whitewash Troopergate rather than go against Spitzer.

Paterson has a bunch of problems. There will be more to come out. His $2500.00 in Albany hotel bills doesn’t pass the smell test, either. All on his state credit card.

He has a house 20 minutes away from the Capitol and has a taxpayer-funded driver, but he still stayed in downtown Albany to run up all those hotel bills. He blames it on Spitzer needing him. For what? Everyone knows the Lt. Gov. has little to do with budgets or anything important.

What was Paterson really doing all those nights?

He also had Broadway show tickets and charges at Tiffany’s and Bloomingdale’s in Manhattan billed to his campaign.

Paterson could do his own version of the old “Things go better with coke” commercial to pay it all back. Paterson doesn’t look like he’s going to last as governor.
