Paterson: No More Sex Talk

March
26

After his first week in office was overtaken by issues involving his personal life, Gov. David Paterson today finally said he’s done talking about it.

Paterson, since taking office March 17, admitted to having extramarital affairs, paid back his campaign for unexplained hotel stays, revealed he used marijuana and cocaine a few times in his 20s and disclosed that he recently traveled with his former lover to help Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Yet he’s done talking about those things, he said during a news conference this morning at Schenectady City Hall. He focused mainly on the state budget crisis and how the national economic woes further threaten the state’s economy.

Here’s what he said about the personal disclosures over the last week:

“I think that more than any elected official on this planet, and probably in outerspace, I have discussed my personal situation over the last week.

“And the reason I did it is I felt that since I was not vetted as a governor, I didn’t get here by desire, I ran for lieutenant governor, and a number of things I said then were not publicized.

“I gave what I thought was the media and the citizens of New York an idea of what I wanted to do as governor. I also gave them an idea of some issues that I thought I needed to present to the public.

“But I think I’ve answered all those questions.”

He’s not going to answer any more questions from reporters. Maybe he’d rather answer to a grand jury.

It has become obvious in the last couple of weeks that Mr. Paterson is sorely out of his league. It seems every time he opens up his mouth another bizarre revelation/statement occurs.

From what I know, I do not believe that there are any politicians in outer space. There are astronauts, but not politicians. Well, actually I kind of am coming around to the conclusion that Mr. Paterson has been in outer space most of his life. The stuff he smoked/inhaled in his twenties has really seemed to affect him.

Mr. Patterson has become a real embarrassment to the state. NY Dems are in for a real disaster if he is at the top of the ticket in 2010.

Look for many top Dems to look at Andy Cuomo to run against a very weakened Paterson in the Primary. I would also not be surprised if Paterson, looking at the writing on the wall decides not to run in 2010 (even though he indicated that he does intend to run).

Paterson surrendered the front page of the NY Post to Spitzer today. Spitzer is caught up in another ring of hookers. This one is run by a trailer park bimbo with a large black book. Probably more big names will come out.

Between Paterson and Spitzer, and the low-life Albany Legislature in general, with its many indicted or already convicted members, New York is no longer the Empire State. It’s now the Big Sleazy.

There’s something about traveling north of the Bear Mountain Bridge that engorges the libidos of downstate politicos. Their compasses all begin to point to magnetic north. David Paterson is the rule, not the exception. So what else is new?
