Lack Of Confidence In Rebate Checks

April
1

A Zogby poll today finds just 28% of Americans believe the federal government’s rebate checks will help the economy.

The poll found that two in three likely voters (67%) do not think the rebate checks will help the economy.

Eighty-three percent of Democrats and 70 percent of independents are skeptical of the checks, compared to 49 percent of republicans, Zogby found.

Yet 41 percent  of those who shop weekly at Wal-Mart are optimistic about the rebate checks, which will range from $600 to $1,200, compared to just 15 percent of those who never shop at the nation’s largest retailer.

The survey of 5,036 likely voters was conducted March 26-28 and carries a margin of error of 1.4 percentage points.

And zero percent said they are sending back the checks. With a margin error of zero. That’s MY poll. No charge.

it was a most embarrassing moment when congress came up with this wimpy “stimulus” and the chimp in the white house signed it with such false glee.

But alas, finally something that benefits the working poor. So used to living paycheck to paycheck, they are going to receive actual cash. They are used to earmarking their tax returns and every other cent for living expense, but this they didn’t expect. Now for all of us losing our jobs, our homes, our pets, our cars, we’ll be using the money to pay our bills. Will the economy be stimulated? I see a lot of logo bags and ipods being purchased. Just my gut feeling.
