Group plans abortion protest at Stewart-Cousins’ office

April

Guest blogger Ernie Garcia reports:

A coalition of anti-abortion groups announced today that it will protest Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins’ Yonkers office tomorrow.

The Advocates for Life and members of other pro-life groups will picket in front of 35 East Grassy Sprain Rd. for two hours starting at 4 p.m. The groups object to the Democratic senator’s sponsorship of the Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act, which seeks to amend state abortion laws.

Yonkers resident Tony Felicissimo of Advocates for Life said that his group’s members fear the effects of proposed the proposed legislation.

“If in the future parents wanted to introduce legislation that require abortionists to get minors’ parents’ permission, they’re afraid a bill like this would prevent this from becoming law,” said Felicissimo, who is often seen at prayer protests outside of Planned Parenthood’s office in downtown Yonkers.

Felicissimo said that his group also disagrees with the proposed legislation’s language allowing an abortion at any time during a pregnancy, if in the good faith medical judgement of the physician, such termination is necessary.

Felicissimo noted that current New York state law only permits abortions until the 24th week of a pregnancy. The proposed bill would eliminate language in state law that describes abortions past the 24th week as homicide.

He also said that the proposed law could allow non-physicians to perform abortions. The proposed legislation’s language refers to “licensed health care practitioners,” though later on it mentions physicians.

Stewart-Cousins was not immediately available for comment.

What are the chances that Cousins issues a meaningful statement? The protesters may help her locate her office.

Advice to Protesters: Some pols ala Adam Clayton Powell Jr, you will never find in the office. Seek elsewhere and you might find. Bring your passport.

Some you find with hookers. More Democrats in Action:

The co-founder of an ultra liberal radio network called Talk USA has been busted on driving charges (yes) after hooking up with a hooker in a Detroit hotel. Thomas Athans is the husband of US Michigan Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow. Athans admits he did it. But Eliot Spitzer, Bill Clinton, David Paterson or any of the Adam Clayton Powells were not at the scene.

“Stewart-Cousins was not immediately available for comment.”

Neither were any of the aborted children.

an abortion is a matter to be discussed between a woman and her health care provider.

I would hope these protesters are doing more to prevent abortions by preventing unintended pregnancy. Perhaps they should be advocating for better sex education, emergency contraception and better family planning services. They would, perhaps, be more effective.
