More state budget problems this fall?

April
3

Could New York’s souring economy force state lawmakers back to Albany later this year?Assemblyman Adam Bradley, D-White Plains, thinks it’s a definite possibility. Lawmakers, he said, may have to return to the Capitol sometime in the late summer or fall to deal with revenue shortfalls caused by the declining economy.”I think it is potentially that bad,” Bradley said.Lawmakers are still negotiating New York’s 2008-2009 spending plan. Once that is completed, the legislature is expected to wrap up its official session sometime in late June.

Well, why in hell not do it NOW? So far, they’ve caved to special interests, increased the budget almost 5%, raised taxes and fees, shifted an even greater burden on the counties, and hired MORE state workers. So what are they going to do when they have to come back? Raise taxes, of course. Their next bright idea will be their first.

Nice job w/ the “blackout” of the comments box Journal of Nausea. After all, it is YOUR soap box to prostelytize from. Don’t drink the kool aid folks- the Naus laced it w/ Viagra

What is up with this blog???? Alternate comments are black in dark blue. They can’t even be read.

Scandal in New York City. A huge slush fund created by the Democrats in the City Council is under city and Federal investigation. Millions of dollars. Phony charities, etc., etc. The Daily News has the story today.

I’ll say it again. Half the comments in this blog can’t be seen because they are now black in dark blue.

Scandal in New York City. The Democratic City Council is under Federal and city investigation over a huge slush fund. Millions of taxpayer dollars. Phony charities, etc. The NY Daily News has the story today.

  5. Not Happy

It seems like every day a Democrat is having a problem with corruption of some kind. It might be a time to elect Republicans into the NYC Council, Assembly and the Senate. Then this stuff will stop.

  6. What's next?

CAN NOT READ COMMENTS IN DARK BLUE WITH BLACK LETTERING. WHATS UP WITH THAT??????

As far as elected officials returning in late summer….they should be there all year and not this part time stuff. they have been there part time for the past three months and still do not have a budget. Must be nice to work three days a week, get travel monies, full benefits and retirement and not have a budget on time. they are all on the looser cruiser

FWIW, I can read all the comments. No dark blue to be seen, more like a light grey. You may want to have the web guys take the shading out of your template, obviously it’s a problem with how some web browsers render the blog. BTW, I use a Mac, with Safari 3.1. I’d bet the guys having trouble are using some version of Internet Explorer, it tends not to play well, especially older versions.

  8. Wahoo

Walt—Thanks. But I think it’s a problem with this web blog. This just started yesterday. IE 7 is the latest, and most probably have it. The problem is on this web blog only, and nowhere else I’ve been on, like news sites, etc. Did you notice they also changed the font sizes and style on this blog? Wouldn’t appear to be a coincidence all this happened at the same time.

  9. ed

You’re right, Wahoo. It’s this site only. Dark blue. Until they correct it, you might try to go to system preferences and make the screen brighter. It’s still hard to read, but readable. Maybe they WON’T correct it. They might, in dementia, think the look is slick.

The Journal News doesn’t even have the courtesy to post a notice admitting the problem. How’s that for “dementia?”

Comments can be read by putting the cursor over the darkened posts and highlighting them. They will appear in white. But that is not any way to run a blog. But it is a very good way to lose readers.

thanks wahoo – I can’t believe now we are going to lose an additional 5 million dollars from the state. We in yonkers just got hit with a 27% tax increase from the county – we are starring at a 15% increase in yonkers taxes and now they say we will get hit again by the county? wow – andrea “do nothing” cousins things sure did change under your watch. it’s time for you to go – your 15 minutes are up! nick spano please announce so yonkers can get a true leader back fighting for us!

  12. WaltTrombone

You say that like that’s a problem, Wahoo. (Spoken as a lefty pinko libtard who has no trouble reading the blog…)

  13. Wahoo

Walt must be familiar with “dementia.” Which was Ed’s word for the Journal News, not mine. My word would have four fewer letters than dementia.

Lou, of course they have to cut in Yonkers. All budgets can be cut, especially those as large as Yonkers’ is, which is about $900 million or so. Cut 5 percent and you save $45 million. Bloomberg weeks ago ordered a 5 percent cut for all of the New York City agencies. It can be done.

  14. WaltTrombone

Oh, geez, now I have the black on blue color scheme, too! Was it something I said?

BTW, Ethan/Wahoo, I do happen to be familiar with dementia, but not, as you might assume, from personal experience. Merely as an observer.

    hhhhhh

DON’T BLAME ME I VOTED FOR NICK SPANO
