Walt must be familiar with “dementia.” Which was Ed’s word for the Journal News, not mine. My word would have four fewer letters than dementia.

Lou, of course they have to cut in Yonkers. All budgets can be cut, especially those as large as Yonkers’ is, which is about $900 million or so. Cut 5 percent and you save $45 million. Bloomberg weeks ago ordered a 5 percent cut for all of the New York City agencies. It can be done.

thanks wahoo – I can’t believe now we are going to lose an additional 5 million dollars from the state. We in yonkers just got hit with a 27% tax increase from the county – we are starring at a 15% increase in yonkers taxes and now they say we will get hit again by the county? wow – andrea “do nothing” cousins things sure did change under your watch. it’s time for you to go – your 15 minutes are up! nick spano please announce so yonkers can get a true leader back fighting for us!

The Journal News doesn’t even have the courtesy to post a notice admitting the problem. How’s that for “dementia?”

Comments can be read by putting the cursor over the darkened posts and highlighting them. They will appear in white. But that is not any way to run a blog. But it is a very good way to lose readers.

You’re right, Wahoo. It’s this site only. Dark blue. Until they correct it, you might try to go to system preferences and make the screen brighter. It’s still hard to read, but readable. Maybe they WON’T correct it. They might, in dementia, think the look is slick.

Walt—Thanks. But I think it’s a problem with this web blog. This just started yesterday. IE 7 is the latest, and most probably have it. The problem is on this web blog only, and nowhere else I’ve been on, like news sites, etc. Did you notice they also changed the font sizes and style on this blog? Wouldn’t appear to be a coincidence all this happened at the same time.

FWIW, I can read all the comments. No dark blue to be seen, more like a light grey. You may want to have the web guys take the shading out of your template, obviously it’s a problem with how some web browsers render the blog. BTW, I use a Mac, with Safari 3.1. I’d bet the guys having trouble are using some version of Internet Explorer, it tends not to play well, especially older versions.

As far as elected officials returning in late summer….they should be there all year and not this part time stuff. they have been there part time for the past three months and still do not have a budget. Must be nice to work three days a week, get travel monies, full benefits and retirement and not have a budget on time. they are all on the looser cruiser

Well, why in hell not do it NOW? So far, they’ve caved to special interests, increased the budget almost 5%, raised taxes and fees, shifted an even greater burden on the counties, and hired MORE state workers. So what are they going to do when they have to come back? Raise taxes, of course. Their next bright idea will be their first.
