NY Dems New Chief Fundraiser

April
3

You become governor and you become your party’s biggest draw. Some state Democrats have worried that party fundraising would be hampered by the turmoil in the governor’s mansion.

Yet others say new Gov. David Paterson will do just fine, evidenced by the party’s announcement today about him heading its spring gala in Manhattan.

Here’s the fundraising letter:

Dear Friend,

We’re pleased to let you know that we have a new date and a new time for the New York State Democratic Party’s Spring Gala.

But more than that – we’re thrilled to invite you to join us in honoring our very special guest: New York’s 55th Governor – David A. Paterson.

Thursday, May 22, 2008
6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Chairs’ Reception 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Broad Street Ballroom
41 Broad Street, NYC

Over twenty three years in public life, Governor Paterson has led by bringing people together to forge a consensus for progressive change.

As Governor he is working hard on the critical issues facing working families across our state – working to increase aid to public schools, provide access to healthcare for hundreds of thousands of uninsured children, invest in the economic revitalization of upstate, and more.

He will be a progressive leader for all New Yorkers and a force for Democrats across New York State and this country.
