Rogowsky makes case for county government

April
4

Westchester Legislator Martin Rogowsky paid another visit this week to the advisory panel that is reviewing whether county lawmakers should get a pay raise.

Minutes from the meeting show this interesting exchange between Rogwosky, the legislature’s majority leader, and Compensation Advisory Board Chairman William Mooney:

“Bill Mooney remarked, no doubt that the Board of Legislators works hard. The general public is frightened about the economy, jobs being cut. They ask when is government growth going to stop?

“Marty Rogowsky replied, in bad times we need government more, run by smart people. Last night the cost of County government went up to $5 million because of a State cost shift. The County becomes the tax collector for the State.”

  1. From Westchester

Perhaps, Mr Rogowsky hasn’t noticed who chairs the legislature’s budget committee. Is that his choice for a “smart” person running things?

Rogowsky inadvertently gives us even MORE reason to get rid of county government. For one thing, it would force Albany to answer directly to the people of each municipality rather than to be able to slip all these unfunded mandates to us indirectly, through the county, confusing everyone. Not he, not anyone up there has any answer to any of this except to raise taxes. something any dumb bunny or group of dumb bunnies could do with only iceberg lettuce as feed.

    bypass the blue.

Rogowsky is one of the very few who will make a case for County Govt. The others, not so few after all, all work for the County. Most everyone else wants it GONE.

For them to think they should get raises now is beyond an absurdity. But that’s them through and through.

    Blue elimination.

What do these people do for us that makes it worth our tax money to sustain them? It isn’t simply “checks and balances.”

George Orwell and Thos. Jefferson are nervously looking at the Board of Legislators from their graves.

And the bold, contemptuous move by Ryan and his allies to raise his (and his lackeys’) pay astronomically for the equivalent of “make-work” should appall any voter.

They’re living off the public teet, and cleverly asking for even more—without taxpayers’ approval. They produce nothing tangible—not even anything “intangible.”

Cancel the cell-phones and the pensions. What worthless folks.

It is the “smart People that put us in such bad shape”

Jim Faulkner beat me to this. But. . .

“Marty Rogowsky replied, in bad times we need government more, run by smart people.. . .”

Wow. This guy thinks he’s FDR. Watch out, Westchester.

Check DSM IV for his diagnosis.

There are some really scary, self-important officials working at the Michaelian Building.

If they were worth anything, they’d be successful in the private sector, and not looking to juice taxpayers for public jobs. Make your own conclusions.
