This could be the start of a taxpayer-funded tour of all the big amusement parks in the US. But they are not amusing -- except in a derisive way.

What next? A "comparative investigation" at Disneyland?

I went to playland in the late 50's and at that time, it was the best park around for rides, especially the roller coaster.

It would seem that other uses could be done at this site on the sound. Some of the rides are outdated and after going on a visit there two years ago, it was sad to see little use of some rides.

I do not have any suggestions for other recreational uses, but I am sure there are some.

One could well imagine that there are 17 people in Westchester happy with the county board. Unfortunately, it is now 900,000+ against, 17 for.

Rob Astorino?

You don't mean former County Legislator Rob Astorino the only Legislator in recent memory removed from a committee because he didn't have committee meetings.

What committee was that you may ask???? If you guessed Parks you would be right. You would also be right if you guessed that this Bath House issue was in Astorino's committee. Of course, it was a not a 8 million dollar fix - probably around 5 million.

Did Astorino break 35% - can't remember but he did get beat pretty bad.

Playland is historic - built in the 20's. The bath house has been in need for a very long time. The cost estimates come from the department of Public Works - also under the Governement Operations Committee.

Sounds like a smart move for the Committee to actually go out and see what the money would be spent on - instead of relying on photos and hearsay.

when will the madness end?

it's time to throw all these morons out of office.

abolish county government or elect a real leader like rob astorino who will bring it under control. those should be our only options.

What, one wonders, do any of these eminences know about construction costs, structures, colonnades, or amusement, for that matter? Whatever they end up spending 8 million on could probably be accomplished with 75% less. Press advisory? For what purpose? To soften up the taxpayer for another 8 million dollar roller-coaster ride? Like NYC OTB, they, beyond all reason and credulity, find a way to lose money running the only circus in town.
