The state Senate’s Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections Committee tomorrow will interview Henry Corbitt, Gov. Paterson’s choice to serve as superintendent of the State Police.
Corbitt, who worked in the State Police for 25 years before retiring in 2004, is Paterson’s choice to replace former Acting Superintendent Preston Felton, who was criticized for his role in the Troopergate scandal.
Corbitt is sure to face questions about the ongoing probe by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo into whether State Police were used by former Govs. Eliot Spitzer and George Pataki to go after political foes.
When Paterson announced Corbitt as his pick last month, Corbitt said, “Whenever politics and police mix, it’s a bad mixture. We see that at the federal level. We see that on the local level.”
The hearing is at 2 p.m. at the Capitol.
