Poll: McCain In Tight Race Against Either Obama, Clinton In NY

April

Neither Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama would get the support of 50 percent of New York voters against Senator John McCain, a Siena College poll found today.

With the focus on the Pennsylvania Democratic primary today, even New York has become a tight race for the presidency, Siena found.

Clinton has a four-point lead and Obama has a five-point lead over McCain, the poll found.

“New York is looking more ‘purple’ than ‘blue’ these days, since neither Clinton or Obama gets 50 percent of the vote against McCain, and both Democrats have small and shrinking leads against the Arizona Republican,” said Steven Greenberg, Siena poll spokesman.

The poll also found that Clinton has the highest unfavorability rating in any previous Siena poll, with a favorable/unfavorable rating of 48-46 percent.

The poll also found that Gov. David Paterson’s favorability rating slipped some from last month, to 48-18 percent, down from 58-10 percent last month.

Yet 80 percent of voters do not believe that the governor’s disclosure of extramarital affairs will affect his ability to be a successful governor, the poll determined.

“Voters were well aware of the Governor’s personal disclosures. They don’t care. And they overwhelmingly do not believe it will hurt his ability to be a successful governor,” Greenberg said.

to my conservative friends..that is what happens when
you nominate someone who is center right and has
not been a republican party rubber stamp but has demonstrated he is capable of leadership….even
in new york…where you would think that either clinton
or obama would run far ahead of the republican…
if they can’t run away with new york they will not win
Ohio,Florida Pa Michigan Missouri and New Jersey..

McCain’s standing right now just might nudge Nick Spano into a run to reclaim his long-time Senate seat.

Hillary’s declining popularity even in her liberal “home” state shows just how much her fight with Obama has damaged both of them. She has been exposed in a very negative light. Voters are also learning things about Obama they don’t like, despite the effort by many in the media to excuse or explain away his weaknesses.

Paterson’s favorable ratings will soon fall big-time.
