Soaring gas prices continue to provide fodder for candidates. Sen. Hillary Clinton today announced a plan to ease motorists’ pain.
Among other things, Clinton would impose a windfall profits tax on oil companies and use the money to suspend the gas tax for the peak summer months. She would also close ”$7.5 billion in oil and gas loopholes” and use the funds to help low income families pay food and energy bills.
Locally, Westchester Legislator George Oros, a Cortlandt Republican and a candidate in the 19th Congressional District, issued a press release today calling upon the Board of Legislators to halt the collection of county sales taxes on gasoline purchases.

If William Gouldman’s, George Oros’s and Hillary Clinton’s plan go into effect we might have some real relieve here. I hope they can make this happen.
Nonsense. A temporary band-aid at best. The problem needs major surgery, not a quick fix. Clinton continues to “round up the usual suspects,” the oil companies. Start rounding up Al Gore and the ethanol mob, which consists of members of both parties.
