Tedisco Turns To Jesus For State Agenda

May
1

From our roving Gannett News Service reporter Dan Osburn, who went to find out why there was blaring music and people on the steps of the state Capitol today:

About 200 citizens joined politicians and religious leaders on the steps of the Capitol today for the Albany celebration of the 57th annual National Day of Prayer.

Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco, R-Schenectady, said that if prayer is needed anywhere, it is needed in the Capitol.

“I will give our agenda to Jesus Christ and put in his hands,” Tedisco, shown at right at a press conference last year, said. “He is our moral compass.”

The crowd, some seen on the left here, sang songs like “Amazing Grace” and “Step by Step” and raised their hands in prayer.

The event, sponsored by the National Day of Prayer Task Force, was broadcast live on the Sound of Life Radio Network.

According to their website, the task force’s mission is to “communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: government, military, media, business, education, church and family.”

    oh the pandering…

There was no pandering. Assemblyman Tedisco is a committed Christian and he was simply acknowledging what a Christian believes. Christians look to the Bible as our standard of what is right and wrong. As Christians, we pray in the name of Jesus and we ask Him to guide us through all of life’s decisions. It only makes sense that a Christian, such as Assemblyman Tedisco, would pray for guidance in the decisions that he faces each day.

I appreciate the fact that Assemblyman Tedisco does not cower from sharing his faith and that he does not check it at the door of the Assembly chamber.
