Gas prices continued to be a focal point in the battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as the two candidates readied for tomorrow’s primaries in Indiana and North Carolina.
“Considering that Senator Obama is now airing his fourth negative ad in six days, it’s clear that his closing message is focused on attacking Senator Clinton to cover up for the fact that he has no plan to reduce gas prices this summer,” Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said in a statement released this afternoon.
Obama’s new ad said Clinton was offering “more of the same old negative politics.” It points out a New York Times editorial that said she’s taking “the low road” and that her criticism does “nothing but harm.”

If you don’t know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering…
You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)
Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don’t die from. And I could go on, and on…

HILLARY CLINTON CAN BEST WIN IN NOVEMBER:
It’s time for everyone to face the truth. Barack Obama has no real chance of winning the national election in November at this time. His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP.
Hillary Clinton seemed almost somber at her Pennsylvania victory speech. As if part of her was hoping Obama could have proved he had some chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources.
But it is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up.
Hillary Clinton say’s that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Mr. Obama faces a test of whether he has what it takes to be a commander and chief by facing the difficult facts, and the truth before him. And by doing what is best for the American people by dropping out of the race, and offering his whole hearted assistance to Hillary Clinton to help her take back the Whitehouse for the American people, and the World.
Mr. Obama is a great speaker. And I am confident he can explain to the American people the need, and wisdom of such a personal sacrifice for them. It should be clear to everyone by now that Hillary Clinton is fighting her heart out for the American people. She has known for a long time that Mr. Obama can not win this November. You have to remember that the Clinton’s have won the Whitehouse twice before. They know what it takes.
If Mr. Obama fails his test of commander and chief we can only hope that Hillary Clinton can continue her heroic fight for the American people. And that she prevails. She will need all the continual support and help we can give her. She may fight like a superhuman. But she is only human.

Clearly, all the votes must be counted. The good people of Florida and Michigan have a right to have their voices heard. Therefore Hillary must immediately file suits in both states to force those votes and delegates to be awarded to her.
It will be oh so sweet to see this in the lap of the Florida Supreme Court in late June. So sweet, so right, so deserved by all involved.
Correct me if I’m wrong, Colorado, but didn’t all the Dem candidates agree that the FL and MI votes would not count, because those states violated the party’s rules concerning early primaries? You can’t just follow the rules when they’re convenient for your side.
walt trombone, the “voters” in those two states have a constitutional right to vote and have their votes counted. they have nothing to do with any “rules”......and you can bet that obama would be doing the same thing if the situation was reversed except he would inject the race card into it. trust me, those votes have been certified and sealed and in the end will be counted. and they belong to hillary clinton.
jacksmith is right about some of what he says. Bill did a better job of running the country than Bush (like that’s really hard to do?), but he left out all of Bill and Hillary’s failures: NAFTA, the H1B visas, travelgate, the failure of heatlh care, the whitewater scam, Hillary’s profiting from inside trading, perjury, adultery, the illegal immigration mess, reluctance to release emails and tax records, the mysterious death of Vince Foster (and many others), Hillary’s anti-semetic comments, and lies, lies and more lies.
Like many of her supporters, jacksmith makes the assumtion that Bill is running for a third term. He is not, and HILLARY IS NOT BILL. The only thing that she ever ran was the universal health care plan, and she took over $900K in poayoffs to let it die. Sorry, being married to the president does not make one qualified. God save us if she finds a way to steal the election.

It is time for local governments to start increasing the taxes on car ownership—a progressive tax. If a household owns more than one car, there should be an increasingly higher annual tax percentage on every car after the first one. There are currently tens of millions of households that own two or more cars.
This would be a fair way to encourage a reduction of cars on the road, to decrease the demand for gasoline, to pay for the gas tax holiday, to increase revenues for road and transit system improvements, and to fight Global Warming.
This progressive tax would also provide the revenue needed to lower or eliminate the cost of transit passes.

Right, let’s get rid of cars. Or severely restrict them. Better yet. Let’s go back to the horse and buggy, or to bicycles. Let’s do everything under the sun except drill for our own oil, build more refineries, and look toward nuclear.
These socialists can be dangerous if not promptly thrown back into some polluted body of water.
Did it ever occur to anyone that people have cars because they NEED cars? Why would someone have an extra insured car in the driveway if it were not needed? And even if it were not needed, that means it isn’t driven. Drill for our own oil!
I have a friend who was complaining about the cost of gas for her husband’s full size SUV. I asked her if he really needs something that big to commute the less than 10 miles to work, since he works in an office, and their kids are grown and on their own. She said he needs the big SUV to tow their boat. How many times does he do that? Twice a year. I told her she should get something small and efficient, and RENT/BORROW a truck to haul the boat those 2 times a year. You could see the lightbulb (energy saving CFL) come on over her head. The cost of renting, or even paying a towing service to haul the boat would probably be cheaper than the difference in gas costs.
One car per household, Tom? That would work in a big city, with good public transportation, but in the burbs and rural areas? With husband and wife both working out of the home? You aren’t going to achieve energy independence in today’s economy by going back to the days of Ozzie & Harriet. (although I wouldn’t complain about having a cocktail and home-cooked meal waiting for me when I got home from work…)
Problem is that Ricky Nelson, thoroughly stoned, with three blaring amplifiers would be practicing with his group in the garage. You’d definitely need that coctail, Walt.

The author lives in LA, which actually has a public transportation system. The other guy lives in Ledyard, CT, where presumably, he is either retired or telecommutes, walks to the local store, and spends his free time flogging his relatives book on every blog he runs across that says anything at all about cars or gas taxes.
Maybe he’s related to jacksmith, the “You may be an idiot” guy?
