Pork On The Rise For Potential Bruno Successors

May
5

Long Island Sen. Dean Skelos, viewed as a potential successor to Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, is already seeing benefits from the possibility of leading a coup against Bruno.

Skelos, on left, saw a whooping 70 percent increase in member-item spending from last year to this year, a increase of more than $1.5 million, according to the New York Public Interest Research Group.

Another potential successor to Bruno, Binghamton Sen. Thomas Libous, on right had the second highest jump on the Republican side, a cozy 52 percent increase in member-item money.

An increase in money for hometown projects is one way to keep potential successors happy with their current boss. Bruno, meanwhile didn’t do bad himself, seeing his Senate-leading pork rise to $4.2 million—a 38 percent increase from the prior year.

    ”...a whooping 70 percent increase…”

That should be “whopping,” unless Sen. Skelos is some sort of crane.

“Bruno, meanwhile didn’t do bad himself…”

“Didn’t do bad himself”? Holy cow. Didn’t they teach you in school when to use an adverb, like “badly.”

    Sheesh.

Amazing. You’d think the state wasn’t facing a 400 zillion dollar deficit over the next few years. All the little Neros, just fiddling away while Rome burns. And Albany. And the entire state.

Had Caesar made these payoffs with the public’s money, he never would have faced the Ides of March. The people, however, might have killed ALL of them.
