Sayegh running for Town Board in Eastchester

May
7

Tony Sayegh, a former Tuckahoe trustee and deputy mayor, yesterday announced that he is running for the Eastchester Town Board.

Sayegh made the announcement at Ciao Restaurant after stops at a senior center in Tuckahoe and Veterans of Foreign War Post in Eastchester, he said.

In his announcement, Sayegh pledged “to run a positive, respectful, solutions based campaign that remains focused on debating the politics and ideas that will positively impact our community.”

Because the all-Republican, five member board has three people who were initially appointed, Sayegh said his candidacy offered voters a choice.

Most recently, Town Board member Fred Salanitro, a lawyer who has served on the Eastchester Zoning Board, was appointed in January to fill the seat of Rocco Cacciola, who became the town’s tax receiver.

Sayegh said he will be running in the Republican primary in September.

In addition to serving in Tuckahoe and being active in many state and local campaigns, Sayegh was unsuccessful in his bid for state Assembly in 2002.

What a joke. He did nothing but get into trouble while in Tuckahoe and now he wants to do the same in Eastchester. He is saying that he wants to run a clean campaign but is already lying. He said that three of the current board members were appointed, which is true to an extent. Two of the current were elected in a general election after being appointed and one of the two (Cahalin) ran with opposition in 2007 and won. Would Sayegh be saying any of this if he were the one to have gotten thea appointment? I don’t think so… it’s sour grapes. He is trying to divide a party. Where was he when Steve Ecklond ran in this last Village election. Oh yeah… helping a longtime Democrat who couldn’t get the Democratic or Republican nomination and then ran on the Independent and Conservative lines. Good looking out Tony.
