Andrew Spano’s generous corporate friends

Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano may have raised a bit too much campaign cash from businesses, according to a study released today by government watchdog groups, including NYPIRG.

The study looked at 2007 campaign finance data and found many instances where corporations exceeded the $5,000 limit in their contributions to political organizations. Among the findings were 13 instances where Friends of Andy Spano received more than the limit.

Deputy County Executive Larry Schwartz, however, questioned the findings, saying the campaign did its own review earlier this year and found only three instances where the corporate limit was exceeded. Those three companies were given refunds.

Schwartz added that the eariler review was prompted by a story in The Journal News  in December that looked at one company — First Environment — and its contributions to Spano.

The campaign, Schwartz added, would review the latest study and, if necessary, make refunds.

According to the study, these companies each gave more than $5,000 to Spano:  Arcadis, Atlantic Aviation, CDM, Executive Jet Management, First Environment, KJM Construction Management, Inc., Reckson Australia Operating Co., Saccardi & Schiff, Inc., the Spain Agency, Inc., Tectonic Engineering & Surveying Consultants, Verde Electric Corp., Wilder Balter Partners Corp., and 41 North 73 West, Inc.

The bigger question is: WHY are these people making large contributions, or any contributions, for that matter? Is it possible that they are attempting to influence the County Exec to award them favoritism? Unlikely. They probably just want to promote the pompadour look.

Ed, the larger question is: WHY is Larry Schwartz, a County Employee, commenting on a strictly political matter? Do we pay him to also run Andy Spano’s campaign?

Between him, Sue Tolchin and all the other hacktivists in the Spano administration we once again see a disgusting abuse of taxpayer dollars.

    Vote them all out!

Schwartz and Tolchin are the magpie mouthpieces of Il Duce on everything that blows down from the hill. They (and Il Duce himself) are never wrong about anything. And who elected him Deputy County Executive? Out!

Ed is sarcastic and JAX is direct. Both comments do the job.
