Troubles Continue For Staten Island Congressman

May
8

After being arrested last week in Virginia with a blood-alcohol level about twice the legal limit, Staten Island Republican Rep. Vito Fossella appears to have even more explaining to do.

The married father of three just admitted to having an out-of-wedlock daughter, from Liz Benjamin at the Daily Politics:

“I have had a relationship with Laura Fay, with whom I have a three year old daughter.”My personal failings and imperfections have caused enormous pain to the people I love and I am truly sorry.

“While I understand that there will be many questions, including those about my political future, making any political decisions right now are furthest from my mind.

“Over the coming weeks and months, I will to continue to do my job and I will work hard to heal the deep wounds I have caused.”

This is pretty bad. Before this incident, Fossella was a definite favorite for re-election and a possible mayoral or Senate candidate down the road. Now, he probably cannot be re-elected and probably won’t even run.

Another in a long list of New York scum…

Not just NY. The Democratic Attorney General of Ohio is about to be impeached, by both parties. And the mayor of Detroit, also a Democrat, won’t resign even though he has been indicted for felonies. There are some bad Republicans too. Those two just came to mind.

Sayonara, senor. Time to pack it in, become a lobbyist, and make even more money. Whatever happened to that thief Congressman William Jefferson from Louisiana with the hundred grand found in his refrigerator? Nothing? That’s what I thought.

I could be wrong, but I think Jefferson is not yet in cold storage. I think he’s appealing the search warrant which turned up all that cold cash.

Ironically, I’m glad that you’re outraged, CON. Since you know a lot of the inside stories and personalities of these people, I take it that you don’t think this kind of thing is endemic. I hope and pray, for the sake of our society, that you are correct in that thinking.
