Did you remember Armed Forces Day?

May

At the end of today’s three-hour-plus meeting of the Westchester Board of Legislators, Legislator Vito Pinto spoke on an issue that was not on the agenda but was close to his heart.

Pinto, a Vietnam veteran and former naval aviator who flew over 200 combat missions during the war, voiced displeasure that Saturday’s Armed Forces Day Parade in Mount Pleasant received almost no attention in the local media.

“I think people have to recall history,” Pinto, a Tuckahoe Democrat said. “I think people have to say: ‘wow an American soldier, salior , Air Force-man, marine – male or female did something, I think they should be recognized.’”

The brief parade went through downtown Mount Pleasant and ended at Town Hall, which is home to a monument honoring all Medal of Honor winners in New York.
