Republican Silver Plate

May
19

Putnam County Legislator Terry Intrary, R-Kent, who has decided not to run for reelection, received the county Republican Committee’s highest award at this year’s Silver Plate banquet at Sciortino’s Restaurant in Brewster this weekend.

In Kent, the Republican Town Committee has endorsed Kent historian Richard Othmer, a retired New York City firefighter and a masonry contractor, to replace Intrary, who joined the Legislature in 2000. Othmer’s late father, also Richard, was a six-term Democratic supervisor of Carmel.

Former Democratic Kent Councilman Joseph D’Ambrosio has the endorsement of town and county Democrats in his bid for the District 3 seat held by Intrary.

  1. Tony the Chairman

I hear Tony the Chairman days may be numbered, he has received passes on many of his wrong doings in the past. It seems now that the republicans in Putnam and Carmel may have had enough of “Troublesome Tony”

  2. Gotta go

Tony the Tiger may have used up his 9 lives. Tony seems just not to care anymore, he has started to drift toward the dissidents and is leaving the strong republicans wondering where he is coming from. Soon he will be standing with Norman Marino, Ann Fanizzi and the rest of the crew making commercials about how things are done in town. Tony is losing credibility quickly and it seems like it is over for him. It appears that the Conservative Party Chairman James Maxwell is out slicking Tony right now. This reminds me of the old saying, “When you sleep with dogs you get fleas”.

The 99th Assembly race will be a real test for Tony. If he supports Ball over the will of the Putnam Republican establishment he will most likely pay dearly for that decision.

    Time will tell.

  4. Assembly Minority Leader

“If it weren’t so transparent, John Degnan’s attempt to try and run in a Republican Primary after having just run with the Democrat Party would be laughable. In fact, it is laughable. On the bedrock, time-tested Republican principles – cutting taxes, opposing driver’s licenses for illegal aliens, controlling wasteful spending, toughening penalties against criminals – Greg Ball has delivered. RACC will be fully supporting Greg Ball, the true Republican, as he campaigns and wins re-election by delivering a positive message of real change and real reform to the voters of the 99th Assembly District.

Voters want someone who says what they mean and means what they say. They don’t want a quick change, flip-flop artist like John Degnan, who shifts his beliefs whenever it’s convenient – or there’s an opportunity to run for political office. Maybe they should call him Mayor ‘make-up your mind.”

  5. RACC

speaking of which, has greg ball paid his dues to racc yet?

maybe if they purged the conference of egotistical, selfish members like ball they might be able to get something accomplished.

i know of at least 5 republican assemblyman who would love to see greg ball gone.

  6. Bill H.

If I remember … when Ball ran in 2006, BALL TRIED TO GET the Democratic endorsement as well. Ball is not true to any party except the Ball Party.
People do not want Ball either as depending on what connections someone has…that is who Ball will favor.
Anyone with the courage to go against the vicious attack that Ball will do …. is a brave sole. Maybe it is about time that Ball receives the same type of treatment. When Ball ran the first time, no one really went after him like Ball does to others.
This should prove to be a very interesting race.

  9. Janice Hicky

After following many of these posts, it appears that people really dislike Assemblyman Ball. It shows that people are realizing that Ball is not out for the best interests of his districts.
I remember also that Ball tried to get the Democratic nod in 2006, so Ball flip flops also to gain votes.
I attended two forums and after listening to Mr. Ball I came away with a dislike of him and his attitude.

No actual voter makes their decision just from lohudblogs comments, you can stop the astroturfing. There’s no such person as Janice Hicky. All the lies you’ve been spreading about Mr. Ball haven’t fooled anyone.
