Journal News reporter Will David reported this afternoon that Yonkers police don’t believe shots were fired at state Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins’ office. Instead, they suspect it was more likely rocks or BBs that caused small holes in two windows.
“There did not appear to be any discharge of a rifle or handgun of any kind,” Yonkers Police Commissioner Edmund Hartnett told David. “We expect that it is either a BB gun or a rock.”
Hartnett also said reports that the senator’s East Grassy Sprain Road office was ransacked are not true.
“There was no ransacking like a regular burglary,” the police commissioner said. “We are not downplaying that something is going on, but I think that it is getting out of hand when they assume it is rifle fire.”
Allyson Felix, a spokeswoman for Stewart-Cousins, said it was police officers who initially led them to believe that a gun was used. She also maintained that office was ransacked, noting that a desk was “rifled through” and a computer was accessed.

If “anyone” can wander in there and rifle through desks and access computers, maybe a little more attention should be paid to some simple security.
YEAH SOMETHING SMELLS THERE – I THINK OUR SENATOR AND STAFF ARE LOOKING FOR SOME ATTENTION.
Lou you are so right-much to do about nothing-you would think with all of the coverage that she was the first public offical to ever have a problem-and then it turns out it was a rock or bb-and how does someone access a computer and rifle a desk when the office is open. Looks like a publicity stunt to me and what amazes me is that the press covers it like it was the second coming.
