which means someone has to run for office..so the consultants are hardly responsible for deals made by
the elected officials once in office..which by the way

paid good salaries and are entititled to fair pensions

The list and the money being paid out is appalling. Some are making MORE in pensions than their salaries were. If you know the ranges of police pay, for example, you’d know that is true. One cop on there is making a pension of $173,000.

Those do-nothings from the Port Authority are a disgrace too. Hevesi is among the felons getting a six-figure pension. And we wonder why NY is so broke and mis-managed? We shouldn’t. It’s on Albany, and on local mayors and other officials who just let all this abuse continue.

the practice of letting police and fire officers within
three years of retirenment….put in overtime in such
large amounts that their pensions become as much as
they were earning while on the job is in fact using
the rules to steal from the taxpayers….andrea
stewart cousins, if she wants to be productive should
introduce legislation putting a halt to the practice..
if she really claims to be ready to stop waste and
abuse she ought to do it rather than calling a press
conference to complain about vandalism which is in
most probability not aimed at her speicifically…

Referring to Ed’s comment, this week the Albany Times Union (www.timesunion.com) has been publishing a series about the very high pensions being paid out by NY State, which even includes some big dollars to felons.

The entire boondoggle list is there on the Times Union website. Many are Westchester County names, including a lot of cops, some from Yonkers. The big money and the rip-offs of the taxpayers are despicable.

This ulimately falls on Albany, but also on local mayors and other officials who never stop overtime abuse.

So far, the Journal News has not published this list, which is public record and can be seen on the Times Union’s website.
