Rep. John Hall, D- Dover Plains, Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano and others will be on hand this afternoon when a nationwide bus tour to rally support for making fighting cancer a top political priority stops in Yorktown.
The Fight Back Express, sponsored by the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network, will arrive at Yorktown Town Hall, 363 Underhill Ave. at 4 p.m. Dubbed a “mobile action center”, the bus offers cancer survivors the chance to share their stories with elected officials and sign a petition supporting guaranteed universal health care access.
Survivors, caregivers and family members are expected to take part. Also slated to attend are Dr. Al Tinger, president of the Westchester County Medical Society, and Liz Gomez, director of oncology at Putnam Hospital Center.
The 6-month, 48-state tour began earlier this month in Ohio and continues through the fall election. Details about the tour can be found online.
Hall is running for a second term in the 19th Congressional District. He is opposed by Peekskill Republican Kieran Lalor. Westchester legislature Republican Minority Leader George Oros of Cortlandt has vowed to wage a Republican primary for the chance to take on Hall.
