More on Ball and guns

Assemblyman Greg Ball’s campaign today touted the assemblyman’s endorsement by the NRA. You can read the press release after the break.
This comes about a week after Ball, R-Patterson, showed up uninvited at a Democratic-led demonstration on microstamping, a measure that would require handguns sold in the state to etch an identifying mark on cartridges. That would allow police to match cartridge casings at a crime scene with the gun’s owner. Here’s a video of Ball’s appearance.
A couple of days later, Ball was chided by an editorial in the Albany Times Union newspaper for disrupting the demonstration, “a violation of legislative protocol.”
Here’s Ball’s campaign announcement. He’s facing a GOP challenge from John Degnan, a former Brewster mayor and trustee.

BALL ENDORSED BY NRA
Earns “A+” Legislative Rating and Endorsement
An effective and tireless legislator, State Assemblyman Greg Ball (R – Patterson) has been a tireless advocate for Second Amendment Rights throughout his first term. Standing up for law-abiding gun owners, he led this year’s debate on Albany’s “Gun Day” and just last week, he stood up for the Second Amendment again by busting up another Albany funded, anti-gun, dog and pony show. Last year the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association (NYSRPA) honored Greg Ball as Legislator of the Year. This week, Ball was awarded an “A+” rating for his legislative efforts in support of the Second Amendment and officially endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA).
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to represent and support thousands of New York State hunters and sportsmen that have not had a voice on the Assembly for, for a long time. We are finally holding the opposition accountable for their horribly flawed and dangerous bills,” said Ball.
The NYSRPA is the state’s second largest and oldest firearms advocacy organization and the official NRA-affiliated State Association in New York.

More mainstream support for Ball, sure to piss off the whiney liberals on this blog.
Ball and ‘mainstream’ organizations have a mutual need for each other. That does not mean Ball cars about the issue.
Perhaps this support may angry ‘whiney liberals’ as Jacob writes, but any support for Ball sure does make CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS in his Assembly District NOT WANT BALL ANY MORE.
Greg Ball is a fraud who recently was defeated in a Republican Convention in Putnam County by a vote of 97-50. Those who know Greg Ball the best know that he is a fraud and can not be trusted. John Degnan would serve the 99th Assembly District with pride and dignity.
Yeah right. The only “Republicans” in the district who are upset with Ball are the old fool RINOs who are trying to put up DEMOCRAT John Degnan against Ball in the REPUBLICAN primary. If REAL Republicans are so upset with Ball, then why won’t one of them primary him? Answer: REAL Republicans are ok with Ball. It’s just more phoney baloney from the liberal Ball haters on this blog.
John Degnan is a registered REPUBLICAN. He was given the democratic nod when he ran last fall for position in southeast, but never have heard he changed parties.
Make no mistake about it, John Degnan is a life long Republican who is well respected for his republican views. The fact that the Democrats decided to endorse him for office does not make him a democrat.
The same Will Stephens Putnam Republocrats nominate Degnan 97-50. Its suprising that Ball had the showing he did. The near unanimous support at tonight’s Westchester convention speaks volumes to how actual voters who are not insiders feel about this race.
According to the news Ball’s nomination was NOT as expected. They will meet again next week to make a decision. It appears that they put off Balls nomination to ponder a decision until next week.
So, BALL DID NOT TAKE WESTCHESTER as poster says and no decision until next week. This may have Ball wondering why…since he is so wonderful and great guy….he was not done immediately. Sure makes us wonder why the delay.
Jacob,
I know that’s the line you’re spinning, but you are dead wrong, and I think you know that. Although I once gave Ball a fair chance, here is why I no longer can support him:
1) he lied when he said John Degnan is a Democrat. Degnan is a registered Republican through and through, who last year received the nomination of the Democrats in his race for Southeast Town Supervisor. You know that Greg Ball also tried to et the Democratic nod and failed. Had Ball received it, Ball would have run as a Democrat.
2) despite all the rhetoric, Greg Ball only recently joined the Republican Party. He was a registered Independent for years and only joined the Republican Party when he started his campaign for Assembly, a campaign he started planning while a sophmore at the Air Force Academy. Clearly, serving in the military wasn’t high on Ball’s agenda.
3) Greg Ball then lied to chairman Scannapieco when he told him he was a lifelong Republican. Scannapieco simply researched it and found Ball to be a liar on that issue too.
4) Ball has given numerous scenarios as to why he got out of the military early, none of which make a bit of sense. Understand that Putnam is a County of veterans who can’t be fooled like that.
5) Ball has never provided an explanation as to how he got that job as a protocol officer in Washington DC, in a time of war.
6) And last but certainly not least, there is going to b plenty of blockbuster information coming out about Ball and his military service (or the lack of service), INCLUDING WHY HE WAS NEVER SENT OVERSEAS IN A TIME OF WAR.
The vote was NOT 97-50. Stop saying that. Scannapieco had 37 proxies and contrlled six more, bring to a total of 43. The vote was 97 votes for Degnan, 7 votes for Greg Ball.
The last straw was Ball’s insincere appeal and apology to the Putnam GOP. He went in there begging for the support and endorsement, then when he didn’t get it he tells the Journal News that he didn’t want it anyway and not getting it was a “Badge of Honor”.
Insincere. That’s the word of the day for Ball. Insincere.
You phoneys have been saying for 2 years there’s some “blockbuster” infomation about Ball’s military service. What have you produced? Nothing. More BS from the Stephens RINOs upset their puppet was defeated by Ball in ‘06.
Looks like Ball has a puppet writing for him on this blog named Jacob.
Jacob,
All I can tell you is to stay tuned.
It’s comical that the line you guys keep using is the “Will Stephens” factor. People have long gotten over Will Stephens.
The issue now is about Greg Ball, his Albany record, his military record, AND EVERYTHING HE DID WHILE IN THE MILITARY. AND I DO MEAN EVERYTHING. LIKE WHY HE NEVER WENT OVERSEAS.
Greg Ball WANTS DINO John Degnan as his opponent, its almost like having no opponent. Democrats need Jim Martorano, Mike Kaplowitz or Matt Metz in November and beyond!
We read these blogs sites and there are lots of accusations and never answers. Previous poster says something about what Ball did while in the military and why Ball never went overseas.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANSWERS??? How can us Republicans come up with any kind of decision this fall if we keep hearing rumors from the Ball campaign and from those against Ball.
Ball makes up stories at the drop of a hat, that is a given, but if there is any truth to military time why doesn’t someone come forth with the truth???? If they know it?
It is an interesting thing to learn that Ball got a cushy job when our country is fighting in Iraq and our soldiers are dying. did Ball have a connection somewhere to stay out of that?
Please, someone enlighten us readers.
Jacob,
What “mainstream support”? The press release by Matt the Legislative Director on our dime?
