Catholics say gay-marriage decision “unwelcome”

May
29

The Catholic Conference, which represents New York’s Catholic bishops on policy matters, said Gov. David Paterson’s “unilateral decision to recognize same-sex ‘marriage’” is “unwelcome.”   This is what Richard Barnes, executive director of the conference, said in a statement this morning:

“The administrative action by Gov. Paterson compelling all state agencies to recognize same-sex ‘marriages’ performed in other states is an unwelcome bypassing of the state Legislature. Unfortunately, this unilateral move without legislative input is not in keeping with Mr. Paterson’s promises upon taking office of a collaborative and bipartisan governing style.”

The definition of marriage pre-dates recorded history, according to Barnes. It should not be up to a single politician, court or Legislature to “redefine the very building block of our society in a way that alters its entire meaning and purpose,” he said.

“What our biblical ancestors knew instinctively holds true today: Marriage between a man and a woman is the best way to assure the stable rearing of children and the flourishing of society. It should not be treated as simply one more lifestyle choice, equal to any other, because it is not,” Barnes said.

I believe this is going to be Paterson’s “Waterloo.” He was not elected governor in the first place, and he has really stepped over the line here. Paterson should go back to having his affairs and hiding the money he spent on them. That’s all he seems qualified to do.

Well gay marriage is welcomed in Spain one of the most Catholic Countries in the world. Marriage is a basic civil right that should be attainable by all Americans if they choose. For those who are uncomfortable with gay marriage check out our short produced to educate & defuse the controversy. It has a way of opening closed minds & provides some sanity on the issue: http://www.OUTTAKEonline.com

Spain also was ruled by Franco the dictator for many years. So everything Spain does is just fine? No. But Paterson must think he is Franco. Hell, he’s not even Franco-American sauce. Another sauce, perhaps.

Well Wahoo Spain has evolved since Franco. Most of America is lost in the 50’s when it comes to LGBT rights…

    Yes, Spain has evolved.

It has evolved in the wrong direction since Franco, and that is writing something.

I strongly disagree that gyas should gey marreid its against god, an nature its sexual imorality an goes against nature. God, meant for a union between a man an a woman not the same sex. God told them to go forth an mutiple . Because of the sexual sin there in how can they do this? maybe with lots an lots of surgerys an them maybe 5-20% that a maybe can. It’s against THE TEN COMMANMENTS AN AGAINST GOD. just because we want sin against GOD they trying to passs a HATE CRIME BILL that would silence groups or origazion from speaking ,teaching or preaching against the sin an silence Gods people because 90% of all churches are under an organization . well there goes our freedom from worshipng God. They had prays removed from schools an from the work place and God, removed from Easter an Christmas replaced him with the Easter bunny an Santa clause. They took God out of the pledge of ALLIGANCE whats next out of our homes. Well if we allow this we will be an atheist nation . God, said all nations that forget God shall be turned into hell.I guess the mark of the beast #’s 666 is next. i vote no to gay marriages anyone else who opposes go to http://wwwnogaymarriage.com an vote have a choice speaek up an use your voice, refuse to be silnet, any longer.

Giving same sex couples rights is different from equating those with marriage—the distinction should remain. Whatever happened to the concept of virtue vs vice? Sacred Scripture in the Jewish and Christian traditions firmly opposes such behavior and comdemns it as grevious in the eyes of God.

For the state to try to legitimize such behavior is asking for Divine retribution—and don’t think it won’t happen!
