New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg provided a videotaped rebuttal at the Albany Legislative Correspondents Dinner Saturday in Albany, and he jokes a lot about his failed congestion-pricing plan, which was squashed by Assembly Democrats.
“Congesting pricing never would have worked,” he said. “What the hell was I thinking!”
Narrated by NY1’s Josh Robin, the video has a series of cameos, including from former Gov. George Pataki who bemoans Bloomberg’s proposed $8 fee for cars to travel into Manhattan.
“Eight bucks, what a freakin ripoff,” Pataki says.
Then Bloomberg takes a swipe at former Gov. Eliot Spitzer by reiterating Spitzer’s line that Bloomberg was “legally wrong, morally wrong, ethically wrong” for criticizing Spitzer’s illegal drivers’ license policy.
Here’s the video (courtesy of Liz at The Daily Politics, who also makes a cameo appearance.)

Pataki patronizes the working man. Ironically, had he been as honestly plainspoken as the working man while in office, he might be still in office.
