Clinton to take a couple of days to mull

June
3

Hillary Rodham Clinton told New York congressional Democrats in a conference call Tuesday afternoon that she owes it to her supporters to take a couple of days before deciding the future of her presidential campaign.

“She said she owes it to her supporters to not make a precipitous decision,’’ said Rep. Eliot Engel, D-Bronx, who participated in the call.

Clinton explained that she wanted to personally thank New York lawmakers for their support during the primaries.

And she did not reject suggestions by some of her supporters – including Brooklyn Rep. Nydia Valazquez – that she should consider running as Barack Obama’s vice president.

“She didn’t put cold water on it,’’ said Engel, who also favors a dual ticket as the best way for Democrats to unite in the November election.

Velazquez told USA Today reporter Martha Moore that she mentioned Clinton’s strong support from Hispanic voters and how she felt they needed to be represented on the ticket.

â€Å“There are places where Latinos are going to be a defining factor, and they needed to feel that they were represented on the ticket,’’ Velazquez said. ‘’I said that moving forward, in terms of November, I thought that the best ticket was to have Hillary as vice president. … Her reaction basically was that she was open to doing whatever she could to ensure that Obama defeated John McCain.’’

Clinton indicated she might take the Veep slot â€Å“if it is offered, if she is asked,’’ according to Velazquez. “But over and over, she says she will do whatever it takes to have a Democrat in the White House.’’

Tonight, Clinton is â€Å“going to talk about her experience of this primary, how remarkable a primary it’s been for both the candidates, expanding the base,’’ Velazquez said. “Her emphasis, I believe, is going to be her commitment to do what is right.’‘

  1. Brittanicus

As he expressed in a speech Senator Obama would sign into law a new AMNESTY. We as the American people must realize it’s our last chance to demand the Democrats endorse the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R. 4088) Leading Democrats are using threats of estrangement from campaign contributions, against any of party members who co-author the law. This enforcement bill would no longer allow parasite employers, to escape prison. Be aware hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens are fleeing states that have enacted their own legislation.

The SAVE ACT is the iron gauntlet, that encompasses all state law, and guarantees extra funding to (ICE)
The exodus proves these laws are working? A federal law clarifies that illegal families will leave this nation of their own accord. America cannot afford Barack Obama, Mrs Clinton or John McCain passing another AMNESTY.

Brittanicus makes some very good points. The people care, but too many politicans don’t. The programs being enacted in some states are working. Really working.

About Hillary and Bill—I suggest checking out two columns by Michael Lewis in today’s NY Daily News. One op-ed, the other is in the news pages.

Correction—I meant to say two columns by Michael Goodwin in today’s New York Daily News.
