Republican State Senators Push School Accountability Measures

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Jun 09, 2008

While the state Senate has yet to pass Gov. David Paterson’s call for a property-tax cap, they are today pushing a “Taxpayer Empowerment and Accountability (TEA)” plan, which they say would tighten the reins on school administrator salaries and pension benefits.

The plan includes requiring school administrators’ salaries to be posted on the school districts’ websites and put in place reforms to prevent school lawyers from receiving health and pension benefits.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has been pushing for similar legislation, and last week a bi-partisan group of lawmakers supported the measures.

“This far-reaching proposal will prevent excessive and wasteful spending, and mitigate problems that have resulted from school districts paying exorbitant salaries and generous pensions to school superintendents,” Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, left, said.

Big deal. Now they have to post their salaries. What in hell is this accomplishing? They call a press conference to announce nothing, pretending all the while that they are accomplishing something. What a bunch of bozos. And the Assembly is WORSE, if that can be considered possible.

Absolutely correct, Ed. See the editiorial in today’s http://www.nydailynews.com to learn more about how all these sell-outs to the unions are about to hurt the taxpayers once again. The unions own Albany. Flat-out own them all—and the state continues to sink, people and businesses are fleeing like it’s a remake of “Exodus,”—and the Albany band plays on. Like the band on the Titanic, that is.

Only Albany’s swan song is, “Nearer My Devil To Thee.”

Correction. The editorial is in today’s http://www.nypost.com. It’s called “Unions Albany Superfecta.” Worth reading.
